for the last 25 years i've been consistently inspired by a lot of the electronic music that's come out of detroit.  so to honor that inspiration and tradition i've made this experimental electronic version of 'a case for shame' and named it 'honor detroit version'

A Case For Shame (Honor Detroit Remix)

The Perfect Life is an epic electronic soul track, which showcases the collaborations album to dramatic effect. Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips joins Moby to deliver an uplifting and melodic anthem.

The casting call was posted on Moby’s Facebook and included some very specific extras, "S&M gimp rhythmic gymnast", "eight roller-skating ghosts", "12 goth choir members", "2 obese bearded bikers in red speedos", "a punk rock brass brand" and " a drunk king: guy with beard age 35-50".

Recently, Peter Kreten from WXAV 88.3FM and for College Radio Day 2013, was able to speak on the phone with world famous electronica musician Moby. In the interview, Moby discusses his new album Innocents (which will be released on 10.1.13), how he first became interested in music and the importance of College Radio for him.

A few years ago, Moby (born Richard Melville Hall) decided that it was time for a change so he packed up and moved from his beloved New York to sunny LA. This fresh, new outlook permeates his 11th studio album, Innocents. One day, as the story goes, he was riding around town listening to “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on local radio station KCRW, and he heard a Damien Jurado song come on the air — and the rest is history. 

“Originally, ‘Almost Home’ was a fully finished song,” recalls Moby. “But I love Damien’s approach to melody and lyrics so I gave it to him as an instrumental. What he did was much better than anything I’d come up with.”

Moby DJ Mix / July 2014 (Electro)

In celebration of 2013’s Record Store Day, moby and @MarkLanegan have collaborated on an exclusive track to be released as a limited edition 7” on 20th April. The Lonely Night 7” comes backed with a remix from electronic music legend @photek and is being released on moby’s own label Little Idiot. The track is also now available as a digital download and stream.

moby on collaborating with Mark Lanegan: 

"i've been a fan of mark's from his early sst records days, and i've always wanted to work with him. he has one of the best and most distinctive voices of the last 25 years. now that we live near each other it ended up being really easy working on a song together."

moby on producing of The Lonely Night: 

“…And in producing the song, spike stent and i incorporated some very unusual production techniques... we ran all of the instruments through a distortion pedal into a guitar amp. so really there are only 3 tracks: left channel through a distortion pedal and guitar amp, right channel through a distortion pedal and guitar amp, and mark's vocals.  The end result is intentionally very broken and atmospheric."

Colin Rich a LA based director who specializes in time-lapse photography has been commissioned to shoot the video to accompany The Lonely Night.  The video features both moby and Mark Lanegan and flits between the desolate and far removed terrain of the Californian desert and the endless electric city expanse of Los Angeles.
