Asked an awesome classical/cinematic music composer to do learn come little children from hocus pocus but make it our own and he did just that and I finally got to sing one of my favourite songs and now in my own unique way and in so honoured he agreed and so thankful to him for for making my inner child now all grown up and the age Sarah Jessica Parker was when she originally sang this for the movie feels full circle and made me so happy! Sarah is a queen, goddess & legends and like bette midler was a huge inspiration on wanting to peruse a career in singing & acting as well as multiple other phenomenal artist & performers! I don’t know if I’ll ever make it to screen or a recording booth or a successful actress or singer but doing this is also good enough at times

I couldn’t resist covering this song from baldur’s Gate 3; I fell in love with BorislavSlavov composition as soon as I heard it absolutely breathtaking and the lyrics by if I’m correct by Sarah Baylus are just so gut wrenching & hauntingly beautiful as well! 

I’m so sad I’ve not had the opportunity to play the game or any of the others but from what I’ve seen from trailers & clips of it; it looks incredible from the performances of the actors, the music, the CGI to the scenery! i can’t wait to eventually get a console & play it!

This is a song a wrote and sang, I’m still iffy on my vocals I just still feel they could of been better but after 70+ tries you can only do so much before you settle! only having a phone and earphones no mic is probs a big factor too! but despite my up & downs with my singing; I was proud of the lyrics I wrote at least and my favourite thing about this is when I reached out to Peter Rechtern a cinematic composer on bandlab where this song was created we’ve worked together before on two original style covers also lullaby’s/witchcraft based! i knew he was the perfect man for the job and he just blew it right out the bayou swamp water!! He is the most talented, generous, patient and genuine person I’ve had the pleasure of working with! not only did he agree to make original music for my original song to make it real and come to life off paper and sound as professional as possible but he went above and beyond to bring all my ideas to life I bombarded him with all sorts of inspiration sounds and music and he listened carefully and took on everything I asked of him with the tone I wanted to set and the story I was telling and creating; he was so patient with my constant changes too never getting frustrated even when I was frustrated with myself. 

I wanted this to sound like it was from a real movie or tv show scene; paint the picture with music with what I saw in my head while writing the song.
That you see a woman in her late twenties early 30s sitting by the murky waters of a swamp runs her glass bottle in the water and collecting things from the swamp to make potions, you hear the frogs and crickets, you hear ghostly spirits weaving throughout the trees, you see moss and withering plants but the swamp still remains green as the fog surrounds them and mist hovers above the bog and bones hung from trees of the people and animals that have sadly passed but she hangs them out of respect to honour their memories in their resting place where she lives; to offer protection. I wanted her voice to sound like it’s echoing as she is isolated and alone. I wanted to keep sounds and vibes that you are in a swamp of New Orleans and that you can hear people from the town as the music moves through the scene & is being pulled away from her it shows you the surrounding area like it would in a show or movie panning around. 

I wanted it to sound spooky, eerie and creepy but also sorrowful that she feels lonely at times. It upsets her that people are intimidated or in fear of her and the swamp that’s also filled with creatures like crocodiles or gators, toxic or poisonous plants and snakes. 

I wanted  show this character enjoys her surroundings & wants to enjoy who she but resonate my own feelings. 
That even when your kind, caring, compassionate & try to be as genuine as you can & wants to help or be there for others it doesn’t always mean you always get that in return. There’s a sadness I feel about myself because of how other people can make you feel like your different, your imperfect or a burden. people have made me feel in life being “weird and unusual” compared to the social basic norms of life is wrong that I should be in the box they’ve put themselves in. 

One thing I’ve found as an introvert and as someone who has darker aesthetic, odd silly humour/mannerisms, not always the sunniest of people due to things I’ve had happen In my personal life that has affected my happiness; i find it can make those who don’t know the true you feel intimidated, insensitive, fearful or just plain judgmental those who are always happy or can’t deal with others sadness become uncomfortable which in turn make people like me feel more alone or feel guilty when opening up or how I’m really feeling because most of the time it’s not what others actually want to hear or they only want you when they need you! A quote that has always hit me personally is “enjoying being alone is not the same as feeling lonely”

I’m someone who loves messing around with my voice challenging it, speaking & singing in accents, dialects/tones or silly made up voices. I also love putting myself through singing a whole song without doing separate takes for a another accent or tonal voice coming and just do both one right after the other and back again it’s challenging and fun to push your brain and voice box to the limits. 

I taught myself how to sing & act as a kid watching and observing; mimicking is your best friend. From the age of 2 I had “stars in my eyes” I was obsessed with musicals (still am) black & white and Technicolor old Hollywood classics is what I grew up with as well as many other great classics from all eras. 

I grew up with people like Doris Day, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, Etta James, Nina Simone, Lucille ball, Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, Nat King Cole, Sammi Davis Jr, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor ect the list is huge but I can’t remember names for the life of me right now! 

Music & TV have been my one constant life support it keeps me going it’s when I’m happiest or I where go to when I’m the most broken. I live in constant awe of the talent that humans can have and that we decided to create such a wonderful yet sadly challenging & depressing at times business! That humans created instruments and what we can do with our own bodies is incredible, nothing else has ever felt right to me despite how many passions and interests I have take part in. 

Although I don’t think it will ever happen for me I’m  constantly poor, I don’t drive, I live in an area where performing isn’t a big thing, I don’t have a fancy performing background & so the odds are not in my favour but for now even doing this feels somehow fulfilling because well I’m singing & acting in my own little way 

Thank you to everyone who is always so kind on bandlab or here or in my life now and again; genuinely if you even knew for a second what that kind of support and kindness feels like to someone like me who never really has it in any aspect of my life really except on rare occasions; Words are not enough!! 🖤
