Definition of quale - a quality or property as perceived or experienced by a person.. Qualé(aka Seb Vanderbeken) is one of Melbourne’s most experienced DJs. Stacking up over 20 years of DJ wisdom, Qualé’s precise, clean edged sound is a testament to his proficiency behind the decks.

Listening to JeanMichel Jarre at 10. Inspired by his first hearing of underground trance in Belgium at 12, buying his first vinyl at 15 and requisitioning his parents belt drive and an ex club, rotary pitch Technics. He cut his teeth on this set up and quickly developed therequisite sense of timing and fluidity, so apparent in his work, now.

Quale applied himself to the clubbing circuits of Belgium,France and the Netherlands and then a cycle of country hopping that would begin with England and whose current end resides with Australia. Qualé has played alongside a plethora of techno royalty, including Chris Liebing, Marcel Dettmann, Dave Clarke, Ben Klock, Truncate/Audio Injection, Perc, Polar Inertia, Tommy Four Seven and Etapp Kyle, to name just a few. He is also the co-founder of Melbourne events crew When The Smoke Clears.

Life... As we know it...
What is a memory? Scrambled fragments of data, bits stored as unique
sequences of impulses in the organic processing instrument we refer to as
"the brain". These scattered data fragments are called upon by sensory stimuli
and compiled by a web of millions of interconnected neuron cells firing
electrical and chemical impulses between one another to recreate moments in
time that, in the senses of the rest of Universe, have long since come to pass.
Viewed from the individual's mind's eye, these recalls are completely self
contained "hallucinations", apparent only to the person making them.
 
The memories are your own and they are unique. Shared between multiple
individuals however, the many variations in recollecting a certain moment form
a sort of objective memory, that can be shared collectively. Places, taste,
music, people - relived through memories recalled at will or by emotional
response. Shared between people, the past is shaping what we, both as
individual humans and as a collective, will become.
 
Our very existence safeguards the expansion of our collective memories as
humans. One might say that as long as there are humans, we as a species
are immortal.
 
However, The Grand Event changed everything and made us question our
fragile future existence in this Universe and our perception of our immortal
collective memory.
 
Reality?
Ever since "The Event" we knew that our days in this universe were coming to
an end. Our reality was becoming ever more hostile towards our presence in
it. The very fabric of it was changing, and we would either have to change with
it, or change our reality.
 
A program called "The Dispatch" was created as a
means to preserve human existence through an infinite number of simulated
universes. A simulation in which each universe would serve as a world for
future humans. A world to evolve in, a world to explore. A world
indistinguishable from the "real thing".
 
"The Dispatch" was not designed to simulate our reality, but rather create a
new one. A new start, be it a simulated one. A living museum, constantly
evolving, growing.
 
So we ask you again, what is a memory? As we write this "The Dispatch",
your future as humans, is being compiled and executed. As it starts our
existence will end - as your new world replaces ours. Our story, our memories
will live on in your reality, our creation, embedded deep within the "The
Dispatch", a brave tale of perhaps our greatest achievement if not our very
last. A reality, bound not by space or time, but limited only to your ability to
create memories, to grow... To be...
