Another track written early on during the sessions for The Labyrinth Of The Straight Line.Had the trumpet/brass experiment for a few years but didn't work on it until 2014.Not entirely successful, it didn't make the cut for the album but it might make a decent compilation track somewhere... the title comes from the work of pioneering psychiatrist R.D. Laing.

"Laing never denied the existence of mental illness, but viewed it in a radically different light from his contemporaries. For Laing, mental illness could be a transformative episode whereby the process of undergoing mental distress was compared to a shamanic journey. The traveller could return from the journey with (supposedly) important insights, and may have become (in the views of Laing and his followers) a wiser and more grounded person as a result."

An Incompatible Knot

This is an oldish and mostly unheard track cobbled together from disparate sound experiments and incorporating some current and ex-band members (Shrill, Dan Knowler, Gary Jeff) It has never fitted into any idea i've had for an album but still has it's moments. It was submitted and accepted for Stuart Mclean's Dark Outside project in the Scottish Borders last year (2014.)

Sound artist Stuart McLean is working on collecting original, never-before-heard music for a blowout radio broadcast. It’s going to be an amazing show. And if you want to hear, it you have to journey to one of the darkest places in Scotland.

McLean's project, Dark.Outside., explores the concept of content sharing and how easy it is to access pretty much anything online. McLean is in the process of collecting unreleased music for the third annual Dark.Outside. and will use an FM transmitter to broadcast the jams he collects into Scotland’s Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park on the day of Sept. 27. You can’t tune in without getting off the couch and trekking to the forest.

All Hope Is Forgotten

Hi, 

  What I do fulltime is completely different to what I do here. What I do here, I do as a hobby - with having a complete Love of most Music, from Punk to the Classical Genre. 

  I am a self taught amateur Musician. I have had a complete passion for making Music since I was a teenager, having played in an Acoustic Punk Band (Toby's Red Sock) with 2 friends in the mid 80's. I purchased my first synth in 1993 along with some other hardware gear and have been writing, composing and recording compositions ever since. I have a vast collection of Synths, Drum Machines, and EFX units and buy and collect new Instruments as often as possible. 

  I do not have a studio setup as such, I just set gear up, which can be time consuming and sometimes a waste of time if I'm not happy with what I come up with. However, I never thought that what I create would ever be good enough to be heard outside my own four walls - thats until I discovered sound cloud. I'm very surprised with the response I have had from my compositions being heard - and I welcome all comments(either positive or negative) with Love and Respect for what you all share on here also. :c)

  My Music is Influenced mostly by Personal Feelings of Love, Hate, Happiness & Heartache. Other Influences Include This Mortal Coil, Nine Inch Nails, Boards Of Canada, Cindytalk, Massive Attack, Coil, Wire, Bauhaus, Sisters Of Mercy,  Joy Division and much much more.

PS: I now have side project that consists of myself & 3 friends. We get together now and again, drink lots of beer and attempt to cover our favourite songs. This takes place in a small cottage/caravan in The Highlands and used to sometimes be performed in Aberdeenshire. We don't have a band name as of yet but we have a Genre called Drunk Rock.
