Sgol Recordings are beyond excited to welcome Danvers into our fold, with his debut release Omiyage.

Omiyage translates as ‘gift’ or ‘souvenir’ in Japanese, which is exactly how this EP came to life. Danvers was gifted all the hardware that was used to create the six tracks on this record, six tracks that have been packaged and gifted to us.

The EP takes the listener on a trip inside a musical mind that has the ability to take memories and weave them into a rich, sonic tapestry. It perfectly showcases Danvers’ effortless skills in sensitive production and sampling, layering shimmering synths with glistening high-hats and building them into swirling dance-floor rhythms.

Each track forms a part of a figurative journey taking the wide-eyed listener on a symphonious tour leaving them with an overwhelming feeling of wonderment, whilst lulling them into wistful respite.

Name kicks off his 'Side Effect EP' with the
title track, a deep chugging workout that wouldn't have been out of place on Jamie Thinness' seminal deephouse label Season back in the 90s. There's more classy deephouse on offer with 'Clos Des Trams', a lush affair based on a deceptively simple bassline and samplework that would do St. Germain proud.
Flip over for 'Nobody', a fine slice of moody basement beatdown, and finally 'Vibraphone Bowed', a peaktime stomper with Todd Terry-esque beats and Kevin Yost-like xylophone lines.

Victorius Black - Just For This (snippet) OUT ON 124 RECORDING (LEVELS EP)

Sheffield talent Atdhe (pronounced 'at day') was a complete unknown when he sent @monologues 'Earl Street Groovers', his debut release which came out in 2017. Fast-forward a few months and Move D was dropping 'Can I Borrow A Feeling?' on the regular, featuring it in several sets and live streams online, and we witnessed at first-hand the amazing reactions that the track gets in the club.

Atdhe's new EP demonstrates his impressive versatility, with the title track 'Illusionist' a breathtaking ride through crashing old skool breakbeat cut-ups, warm sub, pitched up ravey vocal cuts, distorted acid womps and blissful Rhodes-esque chords. It shouldn't work, but it really does.
