‘Masta Killa’ is Grand Garden’s first release and a look into the mind of producer Tuamie. Hailing from Richmond, VA Tuamie is one of the beat scene’s brightest young talents. A true “head” and lover of records Tuamie pride’s himself on making beats with unidentifiable samples.

‘Masta Killa’ is no generic beat tape mind you. The album is full of house, soul, and African rhythms generating a feeling of mid 90’s nostalgia while maintaining a contemporary sound.

In 1997, Jay Dee was the still new kid on the block. With the success of singles like Runnin' (Pharcyde), and Stakes is High, he had his own undeniable sound, but the majors still weren't sold.
This is proof of that.  
Jay was solicited by a lot of majors to do remixes for artists on their rosters. Time and time again, they would go with someone else. 
The joints he was coming up with were fucking nuts, but to no avail. In one case, he was led to believe that one of his mixes got thru, only to see another producers remix when the 12" showed up at Record Time. 
I told him fuck it I wanna put it out.
I had never put a record out.
Got an investor. 
Then I made a phone call.
Chris Manak, aka Peanut Butter Wolf, was my rep at TRC distribution in California. I was working at Street Corner Music ordering records from him every week. I got the #'s 
from him. Sent the masters over and we had a record.
The first pressing was on blue vinyl. Limited to 1500 copies. 
Gone.
Second press was on green vinyl.
Gone.
I also learned to listen to test presses on multiple turntables.
There was a skip in the middle of the fucking Woo Hah rmx that did NOT SKIP on my 1200. Swear to god I had the onlt 12 that could play that shit. It skipped on EVERY other 1200 turntable in the world. Fucked up. Check your test pressings on a few setups. But, that's fixed now. These records go for $100 plus on the internets these days. 
Remastered by Dave Cooley directly from a sealed blue copy.
Why? Because the plates broke at the plant, and I lost the master in a flood 3 years later. That's why.

Originally hailing from Florida, Ghost McGrady headed out west and posted up in Koreatown, Los Angeles where neighbors and police frequently complained of a loud smell and an even louder stereo system blaring the wide spectrum of vivid sounds that would ultimately come to form the beats throughout this album. This is a collection of songs composed over the past four years (2014-2018) that form one coherent thought: Believe. Each beat was created with an open mind and a ‘fuck the popular sound’ mentality that comes from years upon years of sample chopping and sound design experience dating back to Ghost McGrady’s genesis at age 11 in his darkened bedroom.

Believe is the consequence of House Shoes discovering Ghost at a local event and building a relationship that culminated in Shoes curating this album using brand new tracks & material that had previously been heard in various internet locations. To have these heavily textured songs that were once made in a dim lit, lonely, and depressing apartment be heard on vinyl is simultaneously a dream fulfilled and the perfect medium for their expression.
