Robert Babicz is a man on a mission with sounds and emotions. The Cologne based producer stands out as one of only a handful of artists who are not afraid to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. His music displays a level of honesty and soul that sets it apart from so much of today’s disposable mass music production line. The mark of a true musical innovator, here he once again reveals his talent and skill as one of Europe's most essential techno producers, with three stunning new creations for Bedrock. 

Launching with the energetic acidic attitude of the aptly titled “Rave Angel”, this triad of tracks is a musical master-class to behold. You could never get tired of the glorious gut-wobbling bass of “Wonderland” as it opens the door to a twisted rollercoaster ride of a track, while the darkness of “Shifting Reality” morphs amazingly into a truly beautiful heavenly serenade for a finale.

Babicz moved to Germany from his native Poland in 1980 and began making dance music in the early 1990s, when acid house was at its peak of popularity. His career has thus already spanned more than two decades and it is evidently clear from the music that he creates, that he has devoted his life to his craft. 

A much-respected connoisseur of sound design and production, his services as a mastering engineer are in demand all over the world. He is also well known as an exciting live performer, utilizing a host of synths and live equipment to enhance the improvisation in every set he plays. But Babicz's art is comprised of more than just his music. He films everything, later editing the images together as a visual accompaniment to his audio. His short films capture the emotions, colours and feel of his trips and, in turn, these then also have an effect on his music, colouring his emotive, unique take on electronica with a very human feel.

Guy J returns to Bedrock with what is probably one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year. Having been an outstanding highlight in his sets for many months, and been the subject to endless discussion across social media, “Candyland” is set to take things to another level.

Two further treats are “Lonely Color”, with its deeply delicious throbbing core laced with enticing, subtle melodic flourishes; along with another recent live favourite, the supreme, smile inducing “Once In A Blue Moon”. The seeds for this exciting collaboration between Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur were sown a long time ago during snatched conversations at airport terminals, online and at various shows around the world. But, their hectic schedules has meant that patience has been a necessary virtue when it came to actually finding time to work together on this new project. However, the final product – “Sad Robot” – for John Digweed’s Bedrock label has definitely been worth the wait!

This sparkling gem of a track pushes all the right buttons: a low-slung, percussive groove backbone, peppered with twisted vocal snippets and an ebb and flow of euphoric attitude that only comes from years of experience of rocking the best dancefloors around the world week in week out. With added excitement in the form of an energetic, throbbing monster of a remix by Musumeci (aka Sicilian DJ/Producer Mauro Di Martino) – this new package from Bedrock is set to fly.

Nick Warren has just recently returned from another successful tour of South America, and is currently working with production partner Jody Wisternoff on a new Way Out West album. Meanwhile, Guy Mantzur has forthcoming releases lined up on Kompakt and Lost & Found. This first meeting of musical minds for Bedrock has proved such a creative success, we can only hope they find time for more collaborations like this in the future.

Dave Angel - regarded by many as the Godfather of the UK’s Techno scene, returns to Bedrock with a stunning new single.

Dave is becoming a regular highlight on the label: his remix of Marco Bailey’s “Rubber Band” in 2011 was hailed as a pure master-class in techno genius, “Harlequin” was a 2013 highlight, “Keep It” lit up the Underground Sound of Miami, and his “Voodoo EP” made 2014 an even better year for Techno music. Now, having recently caused a commotion on Crosstown Rebels, he is set to amaze on Bedrock once more.

The powerful, bubbling throb of “Progress”, overlaid with the snap and hiss of perfect percussive hits, interspersed with teasing vocal snippets and subtle euphoric synth swells, is a winning formula. Meanwhile, “Stand Strong” oozes a powerful, darker energy, with a breakdown of epic proportions. Both tracks demonstrate exactly why Dave remains such a driving force today, having evolved and matured stylistically over the years, since his early heart-stopping techno outings more than 2 decades ago now.

The son of a jazz musician, Dave Angel’s first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at age of eight, so it’s no surprise that he developed an ear for a good groove. Since entering the consciousness of the techno community in 1990, he has pretty much remained there ever since. Although he’s London born and bred, he has been making records like he's from Detroit with a distinctive twist of funk and jazz for years. Dave Angel is one of the scene’s true characters, giving off an aura of positivity like no other, a kind of warmth that you cannot fail to feel through his exceptional, uplifting music. What's in a name? Well, when you decide to call yourself Acid Bitchez, quite a lot. Harking back to a simpler time, when Chicago ruled the roost, the freshly formed duo of Juha Johnny (who eagle eared readers may remember as as one of the black-tie wearing 303-knob twiddlers in Jori Hulkkonen's Acid Symphony Orchestra) and "lyrical miracle" Jessika have made the most auspicious of debuts, landing on Tiga's Turbo imprint to take us on an acid trip of epic proportions.

Titled 'Thinking About Acid' (we're starting to notice a theme here...) their debut record has seen the label draft in fellow acid enthusiasts - the music not the drug - on remix duties with Jori Hulkkonen, General Ludd, Zia and Joeski all brought in to reshape the cut in their own image. Our pick of the bunch? Well that'd have to be Finnish super-producer Jori Hulkkonen's 303 drenched rework which we have the pleasure of unveiling today.

Acid Bitchez - Thinking About Acid (Jori Hulkkonen Remix)

My love of music runs deep and is influenced by the mood and current events.  I flip from old school blues and jazz, ska, soul and funk beats into hip hop, breaks, lounge, drum and bass, electro beats, detroit, tech house, deep house before retreating back to electro dub, deep dub techno, dub, reggae and roots.

I have always enjoyed a healthy appetite for ska, reggae, dancehall, dub and dance tunes from listening to pirate radio in London in the 1980s (Horizon, LWR, JFM to name a few) then stir in a large dollop of electro, hip hop, funk, soul before we started moving into acid house, house and jungle/drum and bass beats through the late 80s-early 90s where every weekend we were out with DJs Micky Finn and DJ Hype up and down the length and breadth of the country at numerous clubs and events listening and dancing to the latest tuuunes.

The deep affection for more natural rhythms in funk, blues, intelligent jazzy beats and soul, funk and spoken word and opera is counter balanced by my deep love of electronic music from minmal beats, tech house, electro dub, deep dub techno  style beats, dub, breaks and even hard rock
