It's that time of year that we celebrate all things @heistrecordings with the latest release of their Round-up VA series. The concept is simple yet brilliant, get all the artists who have featured on Heist in the previous year to to remix tracks from each other. Now in it's 9th year the Round-up series has spawned some truly incredible music.

This years release features a host of LV favs Crackazat, Dam Swindle, Byron The Aquarius, Orlando Voorn, Nebraska andMakèz. 

Our premier from the release see's our artist of 2022 @Crackazat remix @orlando-voorn's Be With You from his Heist Mastercuts EP which we featured heavily back in May 2022. The EP featured a host of his undergroud 90's hits given a classy makeover which saw them continue to hit dancefloors hard.

Here Crackazat has delivered yet again finessing Be With You into a deep disco edged gem fusing a delicious bassline with chunky drums and filtered synths which build before introducing the euphoric strings and the ever radiant vocal hook.

J. Peacock is back for the Dirt Crew Summer take over once more! After his last collab release with Laurence Guy on “Shall Not Fade” in March this year we are delighted to welcome him again with four new deep and funky tunes.

“I’m Doing Just Fine”  is all about the strings. There's a certain feeling in northern soul records – cinematic, bittersweet – and sampling that energy became the starting point for the whole EP. On this track, the vocal hides just behind the strings, giving it a hazy feel. A loopy, dreamlike cut nods to the 2016 lo-fi house era. “Keep Running ” has a swelling, string-led groove built around a hypnotic soul sample. “Deep Burnt” is one of J. Peacock’s all-time favourite tracks and a big influence here. Urgent and euphoric, a driving rhythm with strings to carry the emotional weight.

“Can’t Go Nowhere” is a slower, more restrained moment on the EP. Inspired by the likes of Cottam, Mark E, and Tiger & Woods, this is a chugging, early-hours builder made for warm-up sets and low ceilings. A nod to the art of holding back just enough to keep people moving. “Hometime” brings together two of his favourite things: dusty soul samples and the raw grit of the MS-20. The analogue synth gives the track it’s edge, the bassline is constantly shifting and alive while the smoothness of the sample keeps everything in check.

Release Info: 
Introducing Felix Leifur, Dirt Crew’s latest discovery, an all new, raw and savvy talent from Reykjavík, Iceland. Reykjavík has a population of just over 120,000, so the disco, hip hop and soul sampling, house music community that Felix rolls with is pretty tight knit, giving him a unique and inspired perspective on the sound. Remixing is friend of the label, Manchester’s Hidden Spheres. After breaking through on our ‘Deep Love 10’ compilation, he went on to drop his ‘Waiting’ EP last summer on ‘Distant Hawaii’ (the dreamy offshoot of ‘Lobster Theremin’).

On the A, ‘Berg Toppur’, is a dance floor workout, a sublime balance of shimmering rhodes and vibrant arps with slamming organic percussion. ‘Giving’ is a spirited and warbling cut, crooning vocals and gritty horn blasts punctuate it’s steady groove and loose live clap. This one’s got open air written all over it.

On the B-side, ‘The Sunday Club’ is a eclectic and somewhat eccentric jam, samples from across decades, weave together to create something altogether new. Next up, Hidden Spheres’ “Rocky Top” remix of ‘Berg Toppur’ eases in with a casual vibe, steamy drums, and a no-nonsense bass line set the pace, while the arps and elated vocals from the original sweep and soar, building to a feverish peak of sun-scorched bliss. Finally, ’Wait’ sets the mood with a dusty jazz piano refrain and a strutting groove, before bringing the playful yet punchy trip home with a solid head-nodding bass line.

Felix Leifur’s diverse ear and distinct style gives ‘The Sunday Club’ EP the perfect blend of breezy summertime spirit and serious night club heat.
