Axe of Retribution (Underswap Alphys's Battle Theme)

NOTICE: The upload of V2 got flagged by SC's automatic system, so I'm using the original Wavering Spirit upload with a new MP3 temporarily. This is a slightly newer render, too. If the old track gets restored, I'll probably put V1 back up for those who want nostalgia, but for now, I'd rather have a more recent version to represent it in the OST.

This whole thing happened because I had uploaded a slightly tweaked MP3, didn't like it, uploaded the V2 MP3 back for a temporary fix, but INSTANTLY got auto-detected, likely because I had flagged someone in the past for taking the song.

Retitled this track because Alphys now wields a Crossbow. New thumbnail will probably rectify this as well.

In my upcoming roleswap AU, Alphys is captain of the Royal Guard, but where Undyne is courageous, strong-willed, and brash, Alphys is quite the opposite. She's still introverted, still questions herself, and while she'd love to befriend Frisk, she's fully aware of the dangers humans pose.

I used Spear of Justice and Alphys' theme as a basis, but with a slightly slower tempo. Additional leitmotifs include Heartache, Megalovania, and Spear of Justice. This is because Alphys herself harbors doubts, and the leitmotifs are symbolic of the characters she holds the closest connections to. Toriel, who is the queen she serves, Undyne, who remains her crush and close friend... and also is actively planning to kill Frisk if they make it past her, and Sans, who is a fellow royal guard (albeit a lazy one), whom she feels is the stronger of them.

I may refine this piece at a later date, but I thoroughly enjoyed making it, and I hope you enjoy it, too.

Holy frijole, Spear of Justice is a helluva song to work with. I'm not 100% happy with this song, but I tinkered with it as much as I could. This is definitely not the final version of the song, but said final version won't be happening for a VERY long time.

Well, Sans calls it patience. Papyrus calls it laziness.

Lots of stuff to say today, reading the whole thing would be appreciated but I can't stop you I'm not a cop.

First off, I gave in and made my own AU Undershuffle, because what this fandom needs is more swap AUs. The Sans sprite was made by me.

The swaps are:
-Chara is Toriel
-Mettaton is Napstablook
-Toriel is Sans
-Asgore is Papyrus
-Sans is Undyne
-Papyrus is Alphys
-Napstablook is Mettaton
-Asriel is Asgore
-Undyne is Asriel
-Alphys is Chara

Nobody else has been moved around. For the record I'm aware other AUs have done some of these swaps, like Scramble Saga has Chara as Toriel and Asriel as Asgore, so any tracks I make for them would also work for other AUs. I don't care. However, I would appreciate people not commenting "this is scramble saga!!" or "hey this works for my AU!", thank you. I might turn the AU into a comic, I probably won't because I have enough personal projects and not enough free time, but I definitely will be composing music for it (I have a couple of tracks already made).

The other thing is I guess I'm part of The Megalovania Discourse now so I'm going to clear up my stance on it before anyone decides to be a little bitch: The way I use Megalovania, the sections of it used in this track (the beginning and the first synth) belong to Sans; the rest (the brass, guitar solo) belong to Chara, because both of them need an extra motif to their name and splitting it up gives them both a good bit to work with. This is how I'm using it and any comments about how it's just Sans's theme or just Chara's theme are going to be deleted on sight. It's also how I'm going to be making Toriel's Megalovania when the time comes- the first part being Toriel's motif and the second being Alphys's.

It's been a while since I uploaded anything for ClassicTale, but mostly because I've sorta been chasing @ow-more-edge to fucking soundfontify this shit so here's the official (and if i may be honest, best) version (so far) of Blocks of Russia!

I'll probably start working more on this AU (but I've kinda been a bit more focused on A Tale of Hybrids, a self-insert AU that I'm in.)

the only AU i know of that casts chara as undyne is taletwist but that's getting rebooted and the characters might not be in the same roles so for now this has no specific AU

i don't really consider beta undertale a chara motif (if anything i'd use it for asriel) but i couldn't figure anything else for that section, so

Finally, a song that's not Megalovania or a cover.

This one was in the works for a while, mostly because I couldn't really pin down what to do for the latter third. Also, as it turns out, Castlevania songs are weirdly difficult to transcribe from 4/4 to 3/4.

If anyone has a source for the art, I'll be happy to give credit, but I couldn't find one myself.
