Dalhous, the music project of Marc Dall and Alex Ander formed in Edinburgh, are bringing our next mixtape instalment, with a mix that will particularly please those with cinematographic inclinations. 
Dalhous have just returned after a 5-year hiatus with a long-awaited follow up to 2016's House Number 44, presenting the second volume of The Composite Moods Collection: Point Blank Range released on Denovali Records earlier this year.  
This mixtape is a collection of some of the records Dalhous have been re-listening to recently. They like to make mixes in the same way they make records where entire tracks are used as raw material. The cinematographic influence comes across immediately: There are a lot of cues from film and game soundtracks, from classic FPS games like Wolfenstein 3D and Half-Life through to a library cue from David Cronenberg's Shivers, to direct audio rip from the opening of Abell Ferrera's The King of New York by Joe Delia.

Following up from the success of his emphatic PAN releases ‘Dutch Tvashar Plumes’ and ‘Diversions 1994-1996’ in 2012, we are excited to announce ‘KOCH’ (pronounced “cotch”), the new album from London’s Lee Gamble.

Sharing some stylistic affinity with his previous records, which excavated his deeply personal history with UK jungle and rave, and techno, this new work dives even deeper to reveal a singu- lar and intimate musical vantage point, shifting to approaching music as projection, state, hallucination, an other place. In ‘KOCH’, we experience an artist constructing a future after time spent deconstructing the past.

In the music we witness such dimensional abstraction, zooming between epic macro scenery and claustrophobically close detail, disorientation and absolute focus. Rhythms fuse together and phase apart, club tracks tunnel into an anxious wilderness, with themes and textures emerging as threads throughout the record, wormholing between each track.
There is a sense of the seen and the unseen, an honest tension between music as function (for this world) and as artistic exploration (for another world) as cracks in the surface appear to reveal the odd and alien minutiae within.
‘KOCH’ represents an intimate and revelatory new phase in Lee Gamble’s practice. Producing tracks that can live and grow on their own in a club or personal listening environment, the artist’s exploratory framework creates threads of consistency and tension between disparate spaces, locations, and mental states.

The LP is mastered and cut at D&M, with artwork by Bill Kouligas.

It's Not Complicated

bRUNA and Wooky are two key figures in Spanish electronic music. Regulars in the line-ups of festivals such as Mutek, Primavera Sound and Sónar, where they have performed on many occasions, both have a solid recording career behind them, which has led to them becoming part of the Red Bull Music Academy and topping the best of the year lists (bRUNA’s two LP's were named "Album of the Year" in Spain in 2009 and 2013).

Both are also co-directors of Lapsus, a multidisciplinary project founded in 2004 that has established three lines of activity: Lapsus Radio, their famous program on National Radio of Spain; Lapsus Festival, the avant-garde electronic music festival held annually at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona; and Lapsus Records, for which they have already published distinguished artists such as Pye Corner Audio, Dalhous, Plaid, Etch, Kettel and Ametsub.

So it is of no surprise that the union of both creative talents would result in a split recording sooner or later. "Archives" is their first adventure together and also their personal vision of ambient music and its different branches. A further twist in the career of two unique artists.

Lapsus is also proud to announce that bRUNA and Wooky will be premiering "Archives" at Sónar Festival 2016 on June 18th along with the incomparable Alba G. Corral, who will be in charge of visual support to this really special occasion. 

The beautiful photographs that make up the artwork on the album are by Albert Miralles, Cristina Salinas and Alfons Pich, and the design was created by the studio Basora.

Territories is the debut compilation from brand-new audiovisual label 79Ancestors. Initiated as a celebratory call-to-action for musical friends and family to compose soundtracks for “imaginary landscapes”, the inaugural LP lays the foundation for a year of upcoming collaborations amongst a diverse set of musicians, designers, and performers. 

A collection of both music and visual art, featuring core 79A artists (Tongueless, A.M. Architect, Before Tigers) as well as guest contributions from Telefon Tel Aviv, Shigeto, Rafael Irisarri, and more. This is an excerpt of the first of two improvised concerts given at Aqtushetii in the village of Omalo in the northern Tusheti region of Georgia, deep in the Caucasus mountains. It's played on a Prophet synthesizer in a tuning I got from Kraig Grady, which is called Sisiutl. A 12 tone 11-limit self mirroring scale in just intonation. A Centaur-like scale with 11s instead of 5s. The other sounds are grass hoppers I had recorded in the field below us during the day, as well as some looped contact mic'd instruments also made that day. A metal barrel suspended from a ceiling beam and metal spring strung between two nails on a board (built with the help of some enthusiastic locals and played with mallets). One could be forgiven, if stumbling upon some nameless wav files, for thinking the White Stains back catalogue was perhaps a collection of unfinished pre-2012 Lust For Youth tracks Hannes Norrvide never got round to vocalising. Layered, synthetic pads are held together under ultra-bright melodies and an all-encompassing lo-fi atmosphere. Yet herein lies the beauty of the project; that it can present a sense of absence and still feel, ultimately, fulfilling.

But this new album is leap forward for White Stains' Belgian protagonist, Koenraad Impens. Pale Desires tip-toes tenderly the line between the washed-out synthpop of old and a move into a cleaner, more delicate territory. This is a far less aggressive incarnation of the project and whilst retaining some essential elements much of the harsh lo-fi aspect has been stripped away in favour of more ambient textures.

It's a sign of maturity; once commanding presence, now reclining under fading neons, White Stains is perhaps becoming the project it always wanted to be.

After a heavy year that shocked the music scene all over the world, three fellow labels, Dalmata Daniel, EXILES and Farbwechsel joined forces to kick off 2021 with a massive 43-track compilation album.

This bold selection of contemporary Hungarian electronic music producers represents the three labels' roster, including their core members and latest signings, alongside with other crews' members and independent artists. The compilation ranges from experimental and ambient compositions across industrial, electro and acid bangers through the current techno sound of Budapest.
