Eu, eu l-am cunoscut cândva.  
Într-o zi, un străin a apărut printre oile mele. Canta la flaut și era înconjurat de copii. Incerca să construiască o lume nouă, după cum spunea el. Voia să îmi schimbe pâmântul pe bani, mulți bani. Dar eu nu am nevoie de bani! Fericirea mea este să trăiesc aici pe dealuri, respectând anotimpurile. Sunt bogat în peisaje și timp, de ce mi-aș dori mai mult?
Deci i-am spus: ”Ia loc, uită-te în jur și vezi cum înflorește primăvara… Hai să bem o țuică, și hop și-așa.

[El are dreptate, vine primăvara
Cum spune ciobănașul, o țuică și Hop și-așa !] x2

Have you heard about The Pied Piper of Hamelin? Well, I met him once.
One day, as I was watching over my sheep, a stranger appeared. He played the flute and was surrounded by children. He said he was looking for a fine place to build a new world. He would buy my land for money, a lot of money. 
But I don’t need money, stranger. My dream is to remain here on the hills, and watch the seasons pass. My fortune is that landscape, and time, my currency. Why should I look for more?
So I told him: « Have a seat, stranger, and look at the blooming spring… Let’s have a tuica, and Hop și-așa ! »

[The shepherd is right: spring is coming.
And as he wisely exclaims: a Tuica and Hop și-așa ! ] x2

Une voix d’ancien, un sage berger des Carpathes (le “Cioban”) se souvient de cette histoire.

Connaissez-vous l’histoire du Joueur de flûte de Hamelin?
Moi je l’ai déjà rencontré une fois…
Un jour, je vis un étranger arriver parmi mon troupeau. 
Il jouait de la flûte et était entouré d’enfants. Il me dit être à la recherche d’un lieu pour construire un nouveau monde. Il me proposa d’échanger mes terres contre de l’argent, beaucoup d’argent! Mais moi, je n’ai pas besoin d’argent. Mon bonheur c’est de vivre ici dans ces collines, au rythme des saisons. Je suis riche de paysages et de temps. Que pourrais-je vouloir de plus?
Donc je lui ai dit: "Tu es fatigué étranger, assieds-toi, observe et ressent ce printemps qui fleurit autour de toi…Allons, comme le veut la tradition: buvons une Tuica et Hop și-așa !”
