Habib Ali explained that the original covenant was the primordial declaration that human spirits testified to in the divine presence: ""I am not your Lord?" "Indeed! We bear witness." Human beings live with the reality of this covenant in every moment of their lives. 

He further mentioned that religion itself is a covenant between you and Allah. Tawhid (Oneness) is a covenant that you will testify to Allah's oneness and not associate anything with Him. The Quran is a covenant that we shall believe in its guidance. Another type of covenant, one that governs our behaviour, also exists. It manifests in our ethics and character and contributes to cultivating goodness in our lives, communities and on this earth. Habib Ali explained some of the features of this covenant and how the meaning of being a Muslim and the meaning of religiosity is deeply rooted in it.
