Tech-house orientated musician and imprint owner @juliet-sikora shares an exclusive mix with The Playground today. Embarking on her solo career with the release of her debut via Opaque Music would lead to a long-term collaboration with musicians Tube & Berger. More than a decade later and many collaborations later, the musician has gained well-deserved recognition along with the launch of the label Kitball which was founded by herself and Tube & Berger in 2005.

Unless you've been hiding under your Grandmother’s electric blanket for the past few weeks – or sensibly departed for warmer climes - you may have noticed things are still rather grey and chilly outside. Yes, as those gloomy folk on Game Of Thrones predicted, winter did indeed arrive and unfortunately seems unwilling to leave of its own accord.  So, with one eye on the thermometer we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands and warm ourselves up with a hot mix from Russian born Brookylnite, Serge Devant. 

Serving as the heat seeking cousin of the more famous ‘rain dance’, Serge’s sections are the the tonic we’ve been looking for in these meteorologically dreary times and follow on from a number of auspicious studio efforts that have seen him moving souls and soles the world over. 

Plotting the biggest of 2016s – he kickstarted his year with the Always On My Mind EP for Crosstown Rebels – we think you’ll be hard pushed to many artists who will blow up in a bigger way this summer. Every few months we take a moment to reflect on our catalogue and curate a selection of the tracks which made the biggest impact, for you and for us. We call this selection Get Physical Essentials, and it starts now. This time the torch is passed to Oliver Giacomotto, whose hand in selection and mixing duties haven’t gone unnoticed. First andhim’s stimulating remix of the WhoMadeWho burner, ‘There’s a Way’, bringing the pop track to the dancefloor and clearing a path for Emanual Satie’s crowd-pleaser ‘Private Show’. m.O.N.R.O.E. makes an appearance with ‘Kill It’ before we stop on Olvier’s own remix of German Brigante’s ‘Sooner or Later’ featuring Thomas Gandey. So far the tracklist looks like a Get Physical family reunion, but it doesn’ stop there either. With even more tracks from players like Siopis, FreakMe, Paolo Rocco, more from WhoMadewho (Sante remix) and German Brigante; this is the cream of the crop here, all killer and no filler, as they say.

Despite originally hailing from New York, Serge Devant has recently locked in close ties with one of London's own key music outposts Crosstown Rebels, falling in with the iconic warm and deep house aesthetic Damien Lazarus's iconic imprint when he made his first release this year with his Always On My Mind EP. The release was part of something of a comeback for the producer after being forced to take a year out from music in recovery following a devastating snow boarding accident. This became a time of reflection and development of his sound where he began working under groove informed direction, which also has been snapped up by Lee Foss and Jamie Jones' Emerald City music and Crosstown sub label Rebellion and is clearly already proving to be a positive upturn in his career.

More releases can be expected from Devant on Crosstown later this year, plus he's heading to EC1 for the first time this Saturday night. So, to properly demonstrate this fresh direction and what can be expected from his debut, he's put together this exclusive promo mix...
