Tribute Mix Vol. 1

Souleance return with a brand new EP for First Word Records. Following the huge success of 'La Beat Tape' in early 2013, the French duo have been busy in the studio preparing a 6-tracker aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Souleance is the result of the partnership between producer Fulgeance (check his new LP 'Cubes') and DJ Soulist of legendary Paris event What The Funk. In 2008 they released their debut EP 'Le Monde' which along with follow up 'Le Plaisir' is one of First Word's all-time bestsellers. 2012 saw their debut LP 'La Belle Vie' released to widespread critical acclaim, winning them fans including Gilles Peterson, Lefto and Laurent Garnier. With an eye-catching live show now up and running (check their recent charismatic appearance on Boiler Room for evidence) Souleance are going from strength to strength.
The new EP is exactly what you'd expect from Souleance, taking in 80s influenced electro (Brotha, Broobecker & Vacances), audacious sample flips (Georgian Kiss), infectious-grooved hip hop (Mais Um) and up-tempo tropical beats (Tropicalidad). All six tracks are guaranteed club winners that only Souleance could deliver.

Kill Emil is a DJ and producer based in Athens, Greece – by way of Brazil – who, since 2009, has created a healthy discography of potent beats and sublime atmospheres. With an early inspiration in hip hop and, importantly, Gangstarr’s Daily Operation, Kill Emil has been prolifically chopping up breaks on his MPC and is now up to his third artist album, the intriguingly titled Salvation. Its twelve tracks introduce dense soundscapes and clever samples over rough, funky rhythms, providing fuel to the DJs and head-nodders alike. Highlights on this Cold Busted release include the bouncy and somewhat spacey “When I See Your Smile”, the wistful yet playful “Can’t Find It”, and the surprisingly cosmic “Such A Long Time”. Sabota is a collaboration between Vancouver house and techno staple Max Ulis, and singer songwriter Robbie Slade. Sabota is probably the most left field thing in Robbie's catalogue of music, while it's certainly the most pop-sensible thing Max has been a part of. As the project has progressed, each has started exploring the other's role, that is, Max has been contributing to writing lyrics and song arrangement, while Robbie has been taking on more of a role in producing. This get/give flow of energy and non verbal communication is at the very heart of Sabota.

With plays from Solomun, &ME, Tim Green, Rampa, Skream, Shadow Child and B. Traits, Sabota is fast becoming a fave of DJ's around the world.
