"After an impressive late morning closing set at dirtybirds latest Watergate party in Berlin, Sacha Robotti, made his way to Switzerland to play at Nordstern. Hooking up with an equally exhausted Swiss producer, "Look Like" on arrival, the tired and wired duo shared thoughts over a heady green tea session. Realising they shared a deep love for bass, they made a pact: to write a collaborative EP that would score the highest of marks from dirtybird big dog Claude VonStoke. These two slick-back groove attacks are the end result... Loca Lola is a one-way ticket to the most mischievous of party districts where an array of manipulated vocal samples bounce avidly on a bed of chop-slapping beats. Complete with head-popping stabs, cheeky wolf whistles and a carnal carnival shriek, its left VonStrokes floors floundering the world over on every roadtest. Dropout, meanwhile, tunes into a darker, booty-busting techfunk groove where cut-throat vocal stabs punctuate the unrelenting bassline and chest-stamping kicks. Heads down, please; this one shifts in a serious way. What started as a comedown has turned into a fire-up. Collab creations dont come any better than this. Something tells us Robotti and Look Like will be locking horns again the future."

Every now and again an artist collaboration comes along that simply makes you stop and listen. The new single from Mark Knight, Green Velvet and Rene Amesz is one of those moments. 

At the end of 2016, Toolroom head honcho Mark Knight spent some time in the Rotterdam studio of fellow label favourite Rene Amesz, the result of which was a powerful electronic Tech House track that was begging for a vocal. There was only one man who could complete this monster collaboration and take the track to its full potential. 

Green Velvet has added his now trademark lyrical intelligence – talking of the worries and paranoia of a digital generation that is constantly monitored and surveyed by afar. 'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.'

The first single 'In The Night' features the vocals of Ben Duffy, which paired with Claptone’s insistent and upbeat production, makes for an exquisitely executed electronic pop gem. It marks an engaging opening snapshot for what will be a milestone in his already glittering career.

'When would I return if not in the night? What would our love look like, if not with you letting me go? Which song will you be humming when thunder and lightning are coming?'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting. 

2018 will see another intense year of touring as a DJ with Claptone taking his immersive 'The Masquerade' event experience further, having built momentum over the last 18 months hosting events and stages in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona and New York and at festivals like Tomorrowland, Melt Festival, Elrow at Amnesia Ibiza, Green Valley in Brazil.
