sad films' debut release, Plugged In is essentially the untamed inner monologue of an unchecked ego. Lyrically it plays with the duality of modern social relationships and how technology informs human interactions. The music compliments this with frenetic guitars and energetic drums that aim to mirror the often anxious feelings caused by the 'always on' aspect of social media.

Plugged In explores the effect an over-reliance on the drive thru junk food paradise that is the Internet can have on a person when it comes to it being a food source of love and validation, whilst ignoring the real people who genuinely care about us. With Plugged In, sad films plays with the selfishness of those concepts and peers into the void of a lack of self-awareness, synthesising it into a character of sorts.

'Dog Day' is the 2nd single from sad films, the solo project of Salford based songwriter Dan Lucas. Following on from the successful debut single 'Plugged In', this new track continues to explore the human condition in the modern internet age. A modern meditation on unrequited love, 'Dog Day' is an up-tempo ballad that explores the desperate, and sometimes criminal, lengths people can resort to in order to communicate those three little words, 'I love you'.
