He describes this mix as follows: 'It has become a little vinyl journey to my roots, in which I dug the 90s house nuggets out of my record cabinet. It's a bit older house stuff and a few classics. “In the Dark” is the latest erotic odyssey from Russian collective SADO OPERA, conceived as a tribute to one of their favorite hangouts in their home base of Berlin, the legendary  Ficken3000. Other fans of the infamous sex club include local DILFs on the DL, voyeuristic Hollywood celebs, and Parisian design collective Vetements, who recently ran a line of T-Shirts stamped with the club's logo and motto, “Share the Blame”.

And blame for “In the Dark” can be shared with Damien Vandesande of dOP (Circus Company) and Les Fils du Calvaire (Because Music): 

SADO OPERA and Damien wrote and produced the track together using five different analog synthesizers. Strutting the line between hi-NRG and acid house, frontman The Colonel tells of the chance encounter he had in the basement darkroom of Ficken3000 with an anonymous man who had a rough beard, strong hips and a wife who is either very open-minded or totally oblivious.

The remix for the track is done ROTCIV (LuvShack Records, Live at Robert Johnson).





But of course, SADO OPERA balances their time spent in this den of iniquity with other pursuits. 

In 2017 they performed throughout Europe, Kaiku (Helsinki), Opium (Vilnius), Georgie's (Amsterdam), at the Berlin Music Video Awards and at numerous festivals like Reeperbahn (Hamburg), Sizget (Budapest), The Great Escape (UK).

With support from DJs such as Wolfgang Tillmans and Discodromo, they also organized a benefit party to help gay men in Chechnya flee persecution: “Siblings” took place at Wilde Renate, the nightclub where SADO OPERA and Damien Vandesande are resident DJs. 

Illustrator Sheree Domingo, who designs some of the club's flyers, created the cover artwork for this single, making “In the Dark” a truly a family affair.
