Most of the time when dogs are barking, it’s because they want attention, and almost every time, without fail, they get their attention. Furthermore, unlike humans, dogs don’t have to use words to turn heads, and neither does the Brazilian house stalwart, Rafaloo. All he needs to do is make music.
For years the Rio De Janeiro-based artist has been pumping out first-rate four-on-the-floor beats to myriad impressive labels including the Dirtybird sublabel Birdfeed, WyldCard, and Rock Bottom Records, and now he’s landing on Seattle’s chart-topping dance label, Feral One Records, with his new EP, Bark At Me.
His entry into Feral One contains two bass house tracks, both equally funky and minimalistic in their grooves. Neither one is as crass as a howling canine, but both will have anyone paying attention to what is happening on the dancefloor.
The title track is a bass house tune that honors the foremost quality of bass. Illusive. Understated. But somehow holds up the foundation of every piece of music ever. The bass on this cut is all of the above. It’s not about hearing. It’s about feeling.
Then to close the EP is “Little Dot,” which is true to its name. Drums, bass, synths, samples, pads. Clocking in at almost five minutes, the track feels like an amalgam of various sonic dots across all frequencies, bound together by the inherent understanding of music that Rafaloo actualizes across his entire catalog.

ADR 009: Ike Kawaguchi (Los Angeles, USA)

For upcoming and fast rising producer Saeonin a journey into music was almost an inevitable. He was first introduced by his mother to industry legends such as Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Wu-Tang Clan and more.

Initially learning to play drums in high school, music was his favourite lesson. His passion and enthusiasm for his craft then continued as he attended college to study music production.
For Saeonin his love for music surpasses all genres, producing all styles and variations of music, which is a true credit to his skills, artistry and talents.

From the age of 20 he focused heavily on EDM, house and techno. Saeonin, received support from some highly prolific names within the industry such as UMEK, Christian Varela, Sam Paganini, Ramon Tapia and more. He also played at some stunning prestigious venues such as:
Ministry of Sound London, Egg London, Café 1001 and Sound Museum Vision in Tokyo.

The producers connection with Japan was always a close one, he lived in Tokyo for six months and became immersed in the Asian Lofi/ChillHop genre which has a huge presence in the region.  His earlier work shows how much passion and love he has for the region.

The result was Saeonin taking on the genre himself and producing some distinctly unique releases. His ignited love for this style of music has opened his horizons. Already receiving an impressive array of support, the future is looking truly exciting for this fast rising and gifted producer/DJ.
