The 26th release of katharsis is the album “Tech Tree” by the Danish Berlin-based artist Dj Mantis. The album expands the habitual ambient and experimental line of katharsis releases to a more trance and body-oriented direction with eight high-tempo smashers. With sounds ranging from muffling bass and high-tech staccato synths on the first premiere track “10 Elemental Masters” to the bewildering arpeggios, distant pads and hard kicks on “Recreational Programming”, Dj Mantis has created a spectacular output to stimulate your everyday with.

A sweltering entity pierces the veil of our atmosphere, a shimmering light echoes a warning of its arrival.

Exploited Body returns to Changeless with their earth-shattering two track EP. 'Collapsar' is a high-octane, howling, extraterrestrial banger caving in on itself, with its relentless drums and harrowing screeches clawing their way into the physical realm. 'Syrtis' is a deceptive slow-burner that halfway through the track reassembles itself in double-time through hyperactive breaks and disjointed rhythms.

’Collapsar / Syrtis’ will be released 11th November via Changeless.

@nozagam is a solo project by French experimental-club producer Etienne Zastko who takes a bleak view of a destructive Anthropocene Epoch, in which “utopias can’t exist and we’ve lost our way in our blind devotion to technology”. The album pieces together a chronology of catastrophic events. A fictionalized soundtrack to humankind’s end-cycle. The abrasive textures and suffocating atmosphere immerse us into a total universe where everything that could have gone wrong has. Affirmations and tech bro optimism didn’t quite cut it. And if those disembodied voices that sporadically reach out are the survivors, that’s not good news.

The visual aesthetic of Zagam is one of fusion, a medieval plague doctor mask with a 23rd-century twist. “Anthropocene” mines a similarly disparate set of influences, spanning an evermore hybridized clubspace. Gqom, grime, industrial techno, footwork: everything is fair game. The rich musical background and hard sonic palette of Zagam make for a perfect match for the hybrid electronics approach of Unizone.

On their first collaborative EP, @lucaduranduran and @beliawinnewisser reaffirm their reputations as two of Switzerland’s most progressive and impressive electronic music talents, proudly presenting an offbeat take on contemporary pop music that’s as infectious as it is abstract. Released on zweikommasieben Magazin’s Präsens Editionen imprint, two contrasting tracks “Tid” and “Luz” are accompanied by equally instinctive remixes from @low-jack and @rhrmusiq .

Softly blending strains of hyper-pop, IDM and the club fire that Durán showcased on last year’s @tratratrax Boiler Room from Medellin, “Luz” is an enigmatic showcase of the intersection at which these two artists thrive, centering and manipulating Winnewisser’s vocals to spasmodic effect. Spacious and sensual at first, “Tid” ultimately aims for the rave with serious bassweight pressure applied to its frenetic rhythms, Winnewisser’s unprocessed voice guiding as a blissfully human counterpoint to a tapestry of electronic innovation.

Releases on @pan_hq , l-i-e-s and @editions-gravats have established Low Jack as a singular talent. The Frenchman offers these Swiss futurists a cinematic flip on “Luz”, steppin’ with eerie intent, gaudy keys and a commanding Latin vocal. From the creative hotbed of São Paulo itself, Rinse resident RHR unspools a pressurized, acid-tinged interpretation of “Tid”, bouncing Winnewisser’s vocals across the system within a hymnal chamber, innovative in the current guiding spirit of next-generation South American producers.

In the era where virtual artifacts can create realities, media is not merely mediating realties anymore, but creating them itself. Entering the new decade, we have witnessed many virtual beings creating new realities: for instance, Hatsune Miku, a virtual being, will appear on Coachella 2020, there are projects that use AI to resurrect the dead such as 2pac, and there is a brand new chapter of the Matrix saga on the way. Because of the mass consumption and production of our highly computerized and automated society, imperfections such as the moderate randomness and gaps created by analogs seem ironically fresh. An "Aesthetic of Imperfections”, if you will, that the “Qunatization” compilation aims to express to our quantized society.
