'Landing' is the first drop from from the the upcoming EP, infusing a laid back lofi hip hop vibe with wonky bass music thats designed to be on repeat in the lounge, setting the tone for an exciting new canvas of exploration for Safire. The first single ‘Landing’ drops March 26th 2021 accompanied by hand drawn illustration from Akane Ito from QQQ design.

For us at 1985 Music, our Various Artists series are extremely important. It not only provides a great platform to celebrate music from a wide range of artists, it enables us to promote both veterans and newcomers in the scene and to introduce them as part of our extended family. 

We have had great success with our first series of VA releases called Edition, for which there were 3 parts. This year, we present our next Various Artists release, named Atlas. This LP features both established artists and newcomers to the scene, as well as label staples and label newcomers. Atlas features Deft, Visages, Drone, Nymfo, Monty, Alix Perez, Echo Brown, Foreign Concept, Headland, Sfaire, DRS, Nymfo and of course, Eprom. Atlas is a journey through numerous styles and tempos, showcasing a group of the most talented artists in bass music today. 
Atlas will be released as a 3 piece vinyl set (and on digital).

The Homeland EP

Travelling to our extended network at the other side of the globe, we welcome Australian producer Safire and his very first Dispatch Recordings EP. Emerging as one of the dark horses of the label of late, his debut EP consists of five superb tracks that combine raw elements with sophisticated production, to bring some of his best music to date.

Leading on from “Power Of Thought”, Safire’s contribution the Transit 2 compilation, he heads straight for the jugular with title track “Homeland”. Deviating into 140 bpm territory on his second solo effort of the EP, “Face Your Fear”, Safire proves he can master all tempos. Having previously joined forces with other artists for Dispatch in the past, Safire completes this EP by collaborating with yet more high profile artists. Working with DLR on the ruthless “Hurdles”, adding infectious vocals in “Timeline” with Cern, and sending out warning signals with Minor Rain for “Transit”.

Each track is brought together with meticulously assembled drums, an ultra-high level of technical quality - you can expect to see a lot more from Safire in the future.

The Melbourne resident Safire has been making waves throughout the scene over the last couple of years with releases on acclaimed independents Dispatch Records, Invisible Recordings, Mindtech and now SGN.

The A-side, Deep Architect, featuring Safire’s partner in crime Morph, is an up-front neuro groove with dark and techy interludes. Safire deconstructs this highly technical track: “The concept behind Deep Architect represents us overloading the computer beyond its capabilities. Logic brings up an overload message reading 'Deep Architecture'. Quite a lot of work went into the tune with a lot of rendering of tracks; we counted it to be around 300 tracks bounced down into 100 upon completion.”

Plasma is back again.They've already caused widespread damage with recent releases from Proxima, Cursa, Gamma and now Icicle and Rido.

Icicle produced a remix, which Plasma released on their first Vinyl in 2014 and now he is back for his second outing on the Australian label alongside label co-owner, Safire. If you know Plasma Audio so far you know that this is going to hit you hard. Industrial, lean and energetic, Suction Cap is a vertical take off tune. Icicle's unmistakeable flavour sits well with Safire's sound.

The B. side, barking by Czech producer, Rido, comes at you fast from the side with a huge wonky lead and shovelfuls of atmosphere. Rido hasn't pulled any punches and this one is bound to catch the dance off guard.

Plasma Audio mark their 20th release with a solo EP titled ‘Distant light' from label founder, Safire. The EP compiles of two dnb and three half time tracks exploring moments in time that venture through deep soundscapes, distorted baselines, hip hop inspired beats & technical production. The EP depicts various styles which the label has grown to be known for.

Conceptual & artistic is the theme while each track has meaning intertwined into its design - from dark to light experiences to political messages, the EP has a rich flavour and will have you feeling the music more than banging your head, with some exception as one or two of the tracks have a remarkable energy that is sure to hurt any dance floor. Artwork for the release has been hand drawn by Japanese designer Nene of QQQ, full release due out 13th of November 2017.
