The Virus signed duo, Optiv & BTK have been astonishing people with their rugged and venomous take on dancefloor drum & bass sonics for a number of years now. Hailing from England and Brazil respectively, they burst through in a bit of a flurry, releasing on respected labels like Commercial Suicide and Renegade Hardware but, a little more importantly for our purposes today, they just released their second album on Virus yesterday. Called Blackjack, it's a 13 track collection of their hard edged production style, something already they're lined up to share with us in Room Two on the 11th July when they'll touch down to showcase the album material. Ahead of that (and to properly mark the album's release) they've dropped us an exclusive stream of 'Shredder'...

Black Sun Empire & State of Mind - Ego



Belgium's the hot spot for jump-up and dancefloor drum&bass right now and one guy who's helped to make that possible is Liege producer DJ Baz. He's been in the studio for a few years now, is dropping music on labels left, right and center, and has launched his own imprint called Impakt Audioz. He has now teamed up with UK based producer Simplistix, who has previously made splashes on Levela's MultiFunction label. They take the sound back to the good old days of Distorted Minds, JB, Generation Dub and Twisted Individual.
Heavyweight producer Jayline puts his undeniable twist on this monster and takes the jumpup sound squarely in to 2015.
Out on April 27th.

Into Black was more of a stylistic choice. My music has always reflected a certain side of me that comes across naturally, particularly my Drum & Bass music. The sound of the EP was more of a throwback to my older sounds and influences, combined with newer elements; I spent a day sampling, then processing, cutting, re-arranging... although I also wanted for the EP to have it's main elements entirely synthesized. Spending time with my peers has taken me out of an old habit, inspiring me to create more. Into Black is a result of that.
