Rosebud Recordings is a home-grown label whose roots stem from deep within the foundations of London. Not constrained by genre, instead digging deeper to explore the many manifestations of soul. Cultivating a fresh take on the old-school where notions of tradition are re-imagined, re-explored and re-defined.

Rosebud Records is back with another double release. The Plant Lovers  EP is follows the same format as RR001/RR002. Kicking off with 2 down tempo soul tinged tracks that are then remixed and aimed strictly  at the dance floor,

On theRR003  A1 label boss Eliza Rose teams up with Mkulu for a jazzed up cover of  T-pains Up Down. Re-working the original lyrics Eliza turns the songs sentiment on its head, repowering the women and reclaiming the dance from the male gaze. Originally released in 2015 the song has been refixed and ready for its dubplate debut.

B1 Sees Eliza team up with close friend and long time collaborator Peaky Beats for the dubbed out daydream of Flowers. Here the duo rework The Wallace Collections 1976 hit Daydream, a track that despite being endlessly remixed and sampled the pair still manage to put there own unique spin on it creating a bass heavy dub riddem that would feel at home on any sound system.

For part 2 of the Plant Lovers EP the consistently incredible Kylin Tyce steps up for the A1. His Westside Soul remix of Up Down is a bouncy summertime affair that cannot be denied as an absolute heater. On the flip we have one of UKGs most exciting and talented producers , Introspekt residing in LA this badgal brings the LA heat to her remix of Flowers. On the B2 we have one of Hackneys finest. Angel D'lite steps up  and flips the script of the dubbed out Flowers to a  create a killer Jungle/ Hardcore/ Tekno inspired track that is undeniably a force to be reckoned with.

Through residencies on Threads and Balamii Radio, as well as a guest appearance on Lobster Theremin’s Rinse show, Introspekt has explored and developed her deep-seated passion for underground UK Garage, Dubstep, Grime and Jungle. Coming in hot, “Witchez” represents a unique hybrid of club, 2-step and grime influences, centred around percussive elements sampled from a Ballroom classic. Thumping kicks are accompanied by a grimy bassline and a bumpy 2-Step shuffle. The diverse sound palette makes “Witchez” an interesting DJ tool built to be played in a variety of contexts.

Practical Rhythms Vol. 9

Following appearances on London’s Threads Radio, Balamii and Lobster Theremin’s own Rinse FM show, in addition to contributions to Juke Bounce Werk’s JBDUBZ Vol. 9 and a recent release on Leeds based Gimme A Break Records, LA based DJ Introspekt prepares to be welcomed into the Breaks N Pieces family under a brand new alias.

Pulling inspiration from the UK-laden worlds of UKG, jungle and dubstep, Sage de Lestrogen has conjured up four killer cuts of heavyweight bass-pressure brimming with skippy riddims, chunky low-ends and low-ceiling energy.

‘Slippy Bxtch’ walks the line between melodic and lairy; a seemingly sun-kissed cut of 2-step quickly evolves into a sludging sequence of large wubs and gun-finger aesthetics. The tempo is raised ever so slightly on ‘Femme Fatale’, a jungle influence distinctively noticeable above the crisp percussion that highlights this as a certified stepper. 

‘Tough Technician’ makes use of a familiar vocal-sample twisted into a love triangle between warehouse rave, breakbeat and the future-facing sounds heard at FWD>>, before ‘System Test Dub’ abandons the dark energy in favour of a bubbling cut of dubbed-out house-garage. 

Also available via digital download are two dub mixes of ‘Slippy Bxtch’ and ‘Tough Technician’.

This new EP will be her first on the Lobster Theremin sublabel and we couldn't think of a more perfect label for this deeply impressive body of work, which effortlessly switches between skippy 2-step and slamming breaks and is all held together with an irresistibly bass-heavy & club-ready aesthetic.

Today we happily premiere Slippy Bxtch, the first track from the EP, a wobbly 2-step banger guaranteed to heat up the dancefloor.

Although Sage Hunt wasn’t born into the UK hardcore continuum, the UK hardcore continuum was decidedly born into her. In the space of her relatively short career, they have fast become one of the scene’s most recognised names, having shared lineups with the likes of Conducta, Sam Binga, collaborated with Oakland badgal bored lord, and appeared on our last TIN compilation alongside Soul Mass Transit System with Sexy Thing.
