After a year in the studio producing and writing with Duran Duran for their new album Paper Gods, Mr Hudson is ready to remind the world of what he himself does with the microphone. “Dancing Thru It” combines a gothic subterranean track and a trademark melancholic vocal to create a compelling if claustrophobic three minutes of very London audio. “Just ‘cos i’m living in Los Angeles doesn’t mean i’m going to start singing with an american accent!” jokes Hudson. 
The song echoes earlier Hudson offerings such as “There Will Be Tears” and his work on Kanye West’s “808’s & Heartbreak” and yet the production is very 2016. “It’s a balancing act between knowing who you are musically and trying new things”.
On the subject of Duran Duran “I put my own music on hold. I just wanted to focus on Duran Duran and give it 100%. The process inspired me deeply. The attention to detail and particularly Simon Le Bon’s approach to the microphone”
After a summer of getting settled in L.A. and working with Janelle Monae in Atlanta, Hudson is now turning attention back to his own discography.  “I’ve got a few bangers ready on the laptop. I’d like to get a few tracks out by the end of the year.”

In his follow up to the stoic "Dancing Thru It", the up-beat "Hey You" finds Hudson in a more optimistic mood. Minimal and romantic, this reminds us of Mr H's London roots despite his current California residency. "Sometimes you need to leave a place to write about it" he muses, "and leaving London has made me miss the London sound, things i was listening to before i left like MJ Cole and Grades. It feels like Disclosure etc have kicked open the door in the US for UK sounds." This wistful three minute snap shot of a first romantic encounter, captures Hudson's wisdom on chat up lines "There's no such thing as a good chat up line. All you can do is say 'hello' " and that lust at first sight moment when you realise you can't "live without" someone even if they're a stranger. In this brave new world where everyone meets digitally "Hey You" seems to capture an old fashioned approach to "lucky" connections in the real world. So another typical Mr Hudson juxtaposition of Old School romance with an up front soundcloud-approved sonic backing. Something old, something new.
