“Dream of Bees” is the first single from Lilies on Mars’ full-length Dot to Dot, to be given worldwide release early next year on Saint Marie Records. Previous recordings by the London-based, Sardinian multi-instrumentalists Lisa Masia and Marina Cristofalo have established the duo, formed in 2009, as purveyors of  poignant, otherworldly “retro-futurist” dreampop.

“Dream of Bees” opens with a hovering organ chord that’s quickly overtaken by an instrumental preview of a chorus that always pulls the listener aloft on a softly turning but slightly dizzying carousel of sound, an image bolstered by a vertiginously calliope-like keyboard line. With the first verse commences a high, distant vocal that soars gently through the rest of the track. Nimble drum work contributed by Valentina Magaletti ensures that the proceedings never quite touch the Ground.

The first remix included with the single comes by way of San Francisco’s ethereal pop team Silver Swans, whose sparer, more synthetic approach to the song brings the vocal line to the fore and uses programmed drums to pull the track’s rhythmic emphasis inside out. A remix by Vancouver-born, New York-based cellist Julia Kent startlingly recasts “Dream of Bees” in purely instrumental terms with an exquisite string arrangement.

ne of Chicago’s brightest new bands, Lightfoils pushes the shoegaze genre into new territory. Formed in 2010, the band is comprised of Neil Yodnane and Zeeshan Abbasi on guitars, Jane Zabeth on vocals, Cory Osborne on bass and John Rungger on drums.
 
Lightfoils mean business. Building on the promise of their EP, Hierarchy arrives and does not disappoint. “Polar Waves” welcomes you with guitars that chime and ring, before the track slowly lifts you blissfully into space. Immediately following is “Last One”, which seethes with a simmering intensity and propulsive rhythm section, and you’re hooked. Only two tracks in, Lightfoils already own your soul.
 
Hazy soundscapes, ringing guitar, icy synth, feather-light vocals, and actual compelling tunes, Lightfoils use Hierarchy to serve notice: their EP was no fluke, and they will no longer be ignored. If you’re new to Lightfoils, drop the needle on “Diastolic”, “Last One”, or the strangely compelling “alovetodestroy” and you’ll begin to understand what all the fuss is about. But there’s more than just three tracks to this album. Once you get inside, it’s a beautifully rich and textured world to explore.

SPC ECO are a duo from London, they formed 8 years ago and have released 5 albums and 7 EPs to date. S E record and produce all of their albums from a small home made studio in North London. SPC ECO consists of vocalist / lyricist Rose Berlin and multi instrumentalist / Producer Dean Garcia. They have been making music together for more than 20 years. Rose sees her voice as an atmospheric instrument and uses it to take you to a world of your own. Rose is a gifted and unique artist with a strong creative grounding within music and sound recording that dates back to her very early years recording songs with Dean in their front room studio.  Their musical pairing was simply meant to be. S E is best described as an amalgamation of experimental and genre bending musical ideas, although diverse it's always recognisable due to the S E branding of Rose's distinct voice combined with Dean's ability to wrap multi fractal sound around her.
 
Sirens and Satellites is SPC ECO's 4th full studio album, like any well designed - provocative music you are undeniably and mysteriously lost in its glow from the moment it drifts into your consciousness. This effect is not a fleeting moment of beauty but all encompassing throughout the entire record, the album unfolds like a great book, the songs effortlessly merge and flow leaving you in anticipation of the next song right until the very end. As with previous S E recordings there has always been collaborators involved, this time around S E team up with Jarek Leskiewicz, who has co-written / co produced half of the Sirens album. Dean connected with Jarek via an impromptu Facebook chat from there they decided to work together and quickly began sound pooling ideas back and forth, three summer months later and Sirens and Satellites was realised. Everyone wants to know what or who a band sounds like, where do they fit in ? S E can fall within many different genres like Dreampop, Shoegaze Electronic etc but somehow they have transcended them all and developed a genre-sphere of their own. When you listen to songs such as 'Fallen Stars' or 'Zombie' followed by 'Delusional Waste' or 'High On It' it becomes very clear that this band do not believe in musical boundaries and are very much a force unto themselves. Sirens is not for the faint of heart, it's big, brash, sentimental and noisy all at the same time. This is a record that likes to be loud, so just plug it in, turn it up and let it breathe its magic.

SPC ECO - Hold On Me

A Shoegaze renaissance classic, first time on vinyl.

The shoegaze renaissance classic The Millia Pink And Green EP by Sway has influenced many a modern musician, shoegazer and non-shoegazer alike. Now, Saint Marie Records gives it the long awaited vinyl treatment. The record now weighs a bit more, thanks to the bonus track ‘Channel’ and its 180gm Coke bottle green transparent vinyl.

Sway began making noise in 1999, in Ventura, California. At the time, they were a four-piece garage rock outfit consisting of Andrew Saks, Amber Carlson, Seth Eubanks, and Vince Alatorre, playing shows and confusing audiences up and down the West Coast with its blurry wall of sound. They’re most known for the shoegaze renaissance classic The Millia Pink And Green EP released in 2003.

Andrew’s songwriting and sonic ideals are deeply rooted in the music he was surrounded by while coming of age: late ‘70s and ‘80s pop music.  Falling asleep nightly while listening to 1980s pop and R&B, and then waking up late at night in a dark dreamlike haze with New Order, Swing Out Sister, Talking Heads, Pet Shop Boys, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam whispering through his Walkman’s headphones, the sonic memory of such experiences keep Sway from ever giving itself over fully to the traditional shoegaze elements. The quest to recreate these musical properties is what later led Sway to embrace and be further influenced by the blissful textures of dreampop visionaries such as The Cocteau Twins, Medicine, and My Bloody Valentine.

In 2011, This Was Tomorrow was released by Saint Marie Records.  It was Sway’s first full-length release and its last.

Secret Shine - Into The Ether

Juno Beach is the third release by Italian duo Snow In Mexico, and their most ambitious to date. Dreamy, washed out landscapes have been replaced by granular vibes that ebb and flow with the beat. Andrea Novelli and Massimiliano Cruciani craft visions of simulated paradise, blinding neon lights, and 80’s cyberpunk aesthetic with warm, vintage sounds of the legendary Roland Juno. Snow In Mexico constructs an EP that dips into the uncanny valley, blurring the line that separates analog shores from the vast digital ocean.

Static Daydream is the new project of Paul Baker (founding member of Skywave and Ceremony), and their first full-length release is comprised of 11 noisy pop songs swathed in reverb and distortion.

In 2012, Paul, and his girlfriend and musical partner, Jamie Casey, began recording what would become their debut EP, "The Only One," released on Moon Sounds Records in 2014 to much adoration.  Here's a review from Clank For Breakfast:

The Meeting Places was founded in September, 2001 in Los Angeles, CA by Scott McDonald, Chase Harris, Dean Yoshihara, and Arthur Chan. Having a shared interest in bands like Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine and Ride, the four developed a cohesiveness and expansive signature sound that led to the band’s debut album, Find Yourself Along the Way (Words On Music, 2003), recorded at The Ship studios with Aaron Espinoza. The album appeared on the Top Albums of 2003 lists of several publications around the world, with critics noting the record's crafty juxtaposition of noise-pop, atmospheric rock and tunefulness.

From 2005 to 2006 the quartet headed back to The Ship studios to record their sophomore album with Jim Fairchild. Numbered Days was released worldwide by Words On Music in October 2006 and contains ten luminous songs that combine infectious, melodic indie-pop with the tremulous soundscapes the band first explored on their debut.

The Meeting Places music has been featured in TV shows and streaming services, including Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Season 2 of Judd Apatow’s Netflix show LOVE. They have performed live extensively including San Francisco’s Noise-Pop Festival (2003), SXSW (2003 and 2005), and shows in Taipei, Taiwan (2007). The quartet has shared the stage with fellow luminaries Chapterhouse, Ulrich Schnauss, 18th Dye, American Analog Set, Film School and Nightmare Air.

In 2017 TMP began to play select shows across Los Angeles while working on brand new material which comprises the quartet’s first new release in over a decade -- coming Spring/Summer, 2019 through Saint Marie Records.
