Dream Is Alive

St. Ranger recorded the single, "Dream Is Alive" for the documentary film "Going Furthur" in 2016. In this episode, Shawn Harris, whose stage name is St. Ranger, explains how writing the song specifically for the film influenced the recording process. He tells the story of how he made the track, along with collaborators  Ben Young and Rob Humphreys, and why he decided to release the song in multi-track form to share with other artists, under the Creative Commons license.

Alice Persephone feat. St. Ranger -  This Land Is Your Land

Before there were harmonies and synths, and strings, and samples (and a few tuned vocal lines) these core songs from my album St. Ranger “Leaves LA” were played live as a three-piece band at the Fortress in downtown LA by me and my friends Peter Munters on bass, and Mykul Lee on drums. The next year, I left LA in an Airstream trailer that my wife and I had been restoring, and I set about overdubbing over these tracks while traveling to make the album that you (may?) know.  In the interest of process, (which often interests me far more than the finish) I’m pleased to share these live and naked tracks with you now!

For any historian types, these were recorded in two days on Nov 4th and 5th, 2013. Also, the remaining songs from the album, i.e. Starving for Space, P.S., etc, were recorded after this session, during my travels.
