I've always wandered how to do this. Stumbled on this method experimenting in Ableton, and thought I would share it. 

Bring sample into Ableton as clip in session view. Turn warp on in clip view. Slow tempo all the way down to 20 bpm. Record super slow glitched sample track to another audio track. Takes a while be patient. Now speed your new super slow glitch track back up to a higher tempo, then once you've found your new tempo record that to another new track. Now you have the sample glitching at a new tempo that you can chop up.
