This July will see the Saints & Sonnets imprint return with its twelfth release, coming courtesy of Jabru who offers up ‘Boat Drinks’, accompanied by an Adesse Versions Remix.
Rising British artist Jabru is rapidly becoming one of the UK’s finest exports having released material via leading imprints such as Futureboogie, Paradise Club and XVI, as well as making up one half of the Bruh Jackman outfit alongside Hackman. Here we see Jabru join the roster of Huxley & Jimmy Poster’s Saints & Sonnets imprint, slotting him in alongside the likes of Detroit Swindle, Ethyl and Second City, which stands as testament to the contemporary appeal embodied in his output.
Title cut ‘Boat Drinks’ kicks things off, tipping the focus towards raw, dusty drum sounds and sweeping atmospherics. While elongated bass licks, smooth chord progressions and bubbling percussive elements gradually blossom over the track’s seven minute duration to create a gritty, hypnotic workout.
This is followed by the original mix of ‘Hubris ft. MTD’ which takes things in a contrasting direction, veering things towards a more house orientated sound with bright piano stabs, heavily swung rhythms, bulbous sub tones and intricately processed vocal snippets. Then Prime Numbers artist Adesse Versions rounds off the package with his rework of ‘Hubris ft. MTD’, stamping his signature deep and rugged vibe on the original cut, taking a more sparse approach with the drums and bringing the cosseting, melodious aspects to the forefront to close the package in style.

Next up, Jonny Cade & Jonjo Williams pair up for a collaborative EP entitled ‘Get Down’ on Saints & Sonnets
Rising British producer Jonny Cade’s career has been gradually blossoming over the past few years with material surfacing on reputable imprints such as 2020Vision, ALiVE and Kolour Recordings. While collaborative artist here, Jonjo Williams, recently dropped his debut solo release via San Diego’s Desert Hearts Records, although previously released an EP alongside Cade as Noamryder via Loco Records. With this release we see the pair slot into the Saints & Sonnets roster, following recent output from Artifact, Jabru and Three Bar.
The EP opens up with the original mix of title cut ‘Get Down’, a raw, energetic workout fuelled by penetrative rhythms and tension building vocal snippets, while gritty low-end stabs, bell chime melodies and hypnotic acid licks add a frenzied energy to the feel of the composition.
Delsin’s Gerry Read steps up to reshape ‘Get Down’ next, pulling back the vibe with stripped analogue drums fused with organic percussive textures, while drawn out sub hits and a saw-wave bass stabs are subtly tweaked and modulated over the records six-minute duration, resulting in an understated take on the original number.
The package is then closed with ‘You’re Not There’, a classy, deeper offering from the duo which sees the pair cleverly multi-layer bright rhodes licks, punchy organ hits and evolving string melodies to create a warm and cosseting vibe, while the processed vocal lines, swinging drums and murky bass hook carry the infectious groove throughout.

Saints & Sonnets drop its fifteenth release, the ‘Perth & Kinross’ EP coming courtesy of Quell.
Nikolas Raptis aka Quell is a Greek producer currently residing in Berlin, Germany and since dropping his debut material back in 2007 has gone on to deliver output for labels such as Ibadan, Kolour, 2020Vision and Tsuba. Here we see Raptis join the Saints & Sonnets roster, following recent releases from Artifact, Jabru and Three Bar.
Opening the release is ‘The Ice Factory’ which sees Quell employ distorted 909 rhythms; insistent stab sequences and an acid-tinged bass hook to open up the EP with a punch. Following is ‘2 0 2 0 2’, retaining a similar aesthetic to the preceding cut with crunchy analogue drums, while raw stab hits, tension building sweeps and heavily processed vocal chops generate a frenzied feel to the composition throughout its near nine-minute duration.
First up on the latter half of the 12’’ is ‘Lady Hardcore’, and as the name would suggest we’re treated to rave-infused workout built around shuffle amen breaks, heavy doses of sub bass and square wave stabs and a general nod to the 90’s embodied throughout. ‘Military Press’ tips things back to the 4/4 with a chuggy bass hook, expansive atmospheres and wandering arpeggios accompanying the rock-sturdy rhythms.
The package is then rounded off with Digital Extra ‘Disorder’, a great contrasting cut to the preceding records veering things into deep-house territory with floaty pad lines, fluttering resonant synth licks and an amalgamation of evolving chords, closing the package on a classy, understated tip.

Saints & Sonnets return with a fresh three-track EP coming
courtesy of Owen Westlake, entitled ‘Shake Down’ and backed with a Christian Nielsen remix.
Budding British artist Owen Westlake first appeared on the Saints & Sonnets imprint back in July of 2013
with his collaborative cut ‘Those Days’ alongside SecondCity. Here we see Westlake return to the
imprint, this time delivering a solo EP of his own.
Opening up the release is title cut ‘Shake Down’, setting the rough and ready tone for the EP with its
organically flowing percussive elements and tension building atmospherics. While the vacillating bass
hook, sporadic vocal licks and expansive reverb bursts instil a further charm into the opening
composition. Following is ‘I’m What You Made Me’, seeing Westlake retain a similar aesthetic with the
drum-led aspects. Owen lays the focus on natural drum sounds while hypnotic lead melodies and an
infectious vocal lick uttering the track’s title meander around a penetrative sub-led bass hook, shaping
things up as a dance floor focused heavy hitter.
The package is then rounded off with a remix of ‘I’m What You Made Me’ from Christian Nielsen, the
Made To Play signee pulls back the vibe with a more stripped back approach, also opting for a more
progressive feel to the structure as the reshape gradually unfolds over five and a half minutes with
crunchy distorted rhythms, raw chord stabs and an acid tinged bass hook.

We close 2014 with Pierre Codarin’s ‘First Date’ EP, a three-track collection from the ascendant British producer.
UK-based producer Pierre Codarin has been bubbling away on the underground circuit for the past few years releasing material via the likes of Resonance Records, Sincopat and of course Saints & Sonnets. Codarin’s bass heavy, UK inspired sound has seen him pick up support from a broad selection of DJ’s such as Rolando, Groove Armada, A Sagittariun and Hackman.
Kicking things off is the idiosyncratic title cut ‘First Date’, which sees Codarin employ gritty, broken 808 rhythms and rumbling square wave bass tones alongside an array of ghostly pad lines, bubbling synth sweeps and eerie vocal lines to create a dark and hypnotic atmosphere for the composition.
Up next is ‘Trauma’ which sees Pierre opt for a more direct 4/4 approach with the rhythmic aspects yet retaining the moody atmospheric feel of the preceding record, with psychedelic drone flourishes warbling in pitch to generate a mind-bending feel while a penetrative bass hook drives the groove along. Then last up to round off the package is ‘Trench’, a classy closing cut which takes things a little deeper in comparison to the previous tracks with swirling ethereal pads, crunchy stripped-back percussive elements and drawn out sub-bass tones creating a smooth, understated number to complete the EP.
