"AND and everything that clings to it" is a found poem in which Emji Spero excerpts every instance of conjunction and the phrases surrounding it. The conjunctions in this piece were taken from De Rerum Natura by Lucretius (transl. by Ian Johnston, Section II.

The natural world is dominated by rhythm – from the daily back-and-forth bounce of the tides, to the intricate swing of birdsong. Humans are, of course, part of the natural world. Taking inspiration from the elements, this four part series explores drumming and percussion from around the world, past and present.

The final episode is inspired by the invisible shifting forces of air: Air is everywhere, all around us. It occupies all space, negative and positive, out of sight - only to be heard and felt. Completely still, or a force that can move, it’s unpredictable, moving and turning. We delve into synthesised rhythm, erratic drum patterns, kinetic energy as electronic sound.

A public disservice by UpMoon Station, framed by dissonant choral stylings of Andrea Long-Chu’s introduction to Females: A Concern, which opens with “Everyone is female—and everyone hates it.” We, unfortunately, agree.

Flight 03 (failed femmes) was performed live at KCHUNG PUBLIC in red hot trailer outside The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

Eighteen is a rendering of the long piece “Air Traffic” by Piano Rain, performed live at Surface Tension on March 3, 2017.

Piano Rain is one square in a patchwork quilt of sound art projects summoned from the ether by Oakland’s Alexandra Archuleta, having previously manifested as Aja Vision, Believe, Opulence, Crescendo, and the Psychic Handbook. At our night she used her machines to channel vaporous spirits and billowing presences from somewhere out there directly into our dreaming minds.

Piano Rain (Alexandrea Maria Archuleta) is a sound artist, producer, DJ and quilter born of Colorado soil, currently flourishing under the San Francisco Sun and Moon. With a background in technical theater she weaves together sounds and textures, as a healing medium, into a garden of memory, connecting the past through the present and into the future.  Her soundworks, like her quilt works, hold the intention of transmitting the nurturing warmth of human touch and memory activation, delivering messages beyond space to withstand the test of time.

Their practice a series of approaches: documentation, personal ephemera, and somatic ritual. Through movement and collaborative performance they seek to queer the familiar, mapping the boundaries of collective engagement. Saint Spero is the author of disgust and almost any shit will do, and they co-founded the Oakland-based small press and queer poetry cult Timeless, Infinite Light with Joel Gregory.
