OK, so this is something of a tester. Recorded using MuLab6, Focusrite Scarlett 18i8, and the Focusrite iTrack Studio kit microphone. The Mandolin was recorded direct, with a TC Electronic Bodyrez pedal to make it sound less shrill.

I think some of my little stabs with the mandolin may be a touch pushed when they should be laid back, and yes that is my voice doubling Fern in the chorus. Be nice...

Another demo. This is pretty rough, and once more I feel I'm pushing my mandolin parts a bit, but otherwise I'm pretty happy. 

 Recorded using MuLab6, Focusrite Scarlett 18i8, and the Focusrite iTrack Studio kit microphone. The Mandolin was recorded direct, with a TC Electronic Bodyrez pedal to make it sound less shrill. Acoustic guitar was also direct. Added a little bit of compression and some reverb to each instrument.
