[24/02/2023] Rectifying Between Disputing Brothers and Married Couples - By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wahid حفظه الله. Khutbah at Masjid As-Salafi, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

- A call to be from those who open the doors to goodness and close the doors to evil. 
- A warning against causing corruption in the land.
- Proof that fulfilling the command of enjoining good, forbidding evil and rectifying affairs is protection from destruction. 
- The reward for those who rectify and correct. 
- The great virtue of rectifying disputes that occur between Ahlus-Sunnah. 
- Shaykh Fawzān (حفظه الله) on the verse, “There is no good in most of their secret talks save (in) him who orders ṣadaqah, or ma'rūf, or conciliation between mankind, and he who does this, seeking the good Pleasure of Allāh, We shall give him a great reward.” [Sūrah an-Nisā 4:114]
- A ḥadīth that highlights the importance of mending rifts between the believers.
- The need for the hearts of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah to be united.
- Encouragement to rectify between spouses, and a warning against marrying and divorcing in haste.
- Removing the desire for revenge from our hearts. 
- A warning against being from those who leave the people to differ when we have the ability to make peace, or being from those who incite fitnah between the believers.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ انْصُرْ أَخَاكَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ مَظْلُومًا ‏"‏‏.‏ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنْصُرُهُ إِذَا كَانَ مَظْلُومًا، أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا كَانَ ظَالِمًا كَيْفَ أَنْصُرُهُ قَالَ ‏"‏ تَحْجُزُهُ أَوْ تَمْنَعُهُ مِنَ الظُّلْمِ، فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ نَصْرُهُ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Anas رضي الله عنه: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Help your brother whether he is an oppressor or an oppressed," A man said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I will help him if he is oppressed, but if he is an oppressor, how shall I help him?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "By preventing him from oppressing (others), for that is how to help him."

Sahih al-Bukhari 6952. 

- Guidance from the Messenger ﷺ regarding how to behave when oppression/injustice is taking place.
- The Prophet’s ﷺ redefinition of a well-known statement of the Arabs in Jāhiliyyah from one of evil to one of good.
- A warning against ta’aṣṣub.
- Benefits from the ḥadīth, “Aid your brother whether he is the oppressor or the oppressed.”
- Oppression will be darkness on the Day of Judgement. 
- The meaning of ‘dhulm’, and its types.
- A ḥadīth that highlights the inescapable reality that every injustice will be taken to account on the Day of Judgement.
