Moving Stones produces the movement of rocks through the narrations of two geologists and the memory of its experience. It unfolds and creates the motion, and produces, rather than presents, the context of the action.

Hobbies: A Slideshow

Me: So you were in the second world war?
You: yes.
Me: Is it difficult then to sit here and be reminded daily?
You: No because generally you remember the better days. The worst part of an old soldier’s life… Do you remember when the Bosnian war was on, I was in Yugoslavia, at one time, and I used to get up two or three days a night and change my bed, because it was ringing wet. And it was all those memories coming back,… those are the worst parts. But no, when you are in a place like this you forget that kind of memory and think of the comradeship you had with your other palls.
Me: Difficult I suppose for my generation to imagine a war, I mean a war here.
You: Yes, unless you have been through it you cannot imagine it. And with all these stupid films, especially the American one’s, they give you no truth about the war whatsoever.
Me: Yes I imagine they wouldn’t.


The Arrangement

Oblongs In Square Spaces

This piece re-composes the ballade Erlkönig by Johan Wolfgang Goethe to engage in the ephemerality and fragility of time. It proposes an affective time, full of sentiment: producing not the thin chronological line of rational time ticking by, but a stream of emotions thickened by memory. A thick timespace that allows us to be social as well as solitary, and whose agency we experience and are at the same time. Time does not go by us, we go in time, we are time, fragile and passing, alone in the night.
