East-coast producer and SR alumnus @Saltusmusic returns to the label fold with the dark halftime roller, “Shadow Rhythm.” Inspired by the sci-fi epics of the modern era, Saltus’s visual approach to sound design draws on big snares, rolling synths, and hypnotic halftime beats to conjure an ominous and energetic soundtrack for the churning depths of the underground.

Saltus strikes again with another heater of a mix. From the moment you hit play you can tell you're in for something special. Get ready for a journey of the mind and the sound system.

Saltus is a classically trained guitarist starting at age 9, progressing into playing in rock & metal bands in his teens. Shortly after, he discovered his passion for electronic music and rave culture. Saltus is also known for his role as manager for TRUTH, Deep Dark & Dangerous, Honeycomb, and more. As well as earning a reputation as an event promoter via his outfits Rezinate & MASS EDMC, for producing high quality electronic music events throughout the United States since 2010.

If you can expect one thing from Saltus' sets it's an impressive range of bass music and dark, minimal flavors. Dungeon, grime, stanker after stanker. Showcasing his styles & prowess in 140, 130, and 170 with a clear command of the dance floor as he puts us in an absolute trance 🌀

Playing for a Ghost

On the subway headed to Grand Central station in NYC, I took out my recently purchased Tascam DR-40 and recorded the sounds and chatter of the 8pm commuters.

A week or so later on a stormy night, I recorded the rainfall crackling against my front porch.

Then on September 27th, the night of the Blood Moon Eclipse, the composition really began to come together. I've been lost in these sounds & the vibe of that subway ride since, so I'm stoked to finally put this out and share it with you.

In between a jam session with friends, I was noodling on the guitar and found myself getting lost in a new riff. I told my friends I had to leave and rushed home to record it.

I have always struggled recording my guitar, as sometimes the beauty of the instrument can only be captured in that moment when you're lost in the strings, and your eyes are rolled in the back of your head.

For this reason, I've hardly recorded anything since my Dad encouraged me to first pick it up when I was 9. I felt like I could never get it right.

However, when I woke up the next morning, and clicked play & listened to what I had recorded, I knew that this was the one - my opportunity to finally to get something on paper and show my family & friends how far I've come.

This picture was taken by my parents on their honeymoon. I gave this song to them today as a long overdue Christmas present.

I began this project after listening to a bunch of Indigo & Synkro's records one night - their song "Reflection" particularly spoke to me, so I started with sampling the vocal & bells. A day or two later I had the opportunity to decompress & work on the tune at a friend's ski house in Vermont. I found myself in front of the fireplace, writing & reflecting on the past few months.
