Dominik Eulberg & Gabriel Ananda - The Space Between Us (Original Mix)

Maktub-head Satori makes a welcome return to Crosstown Rebels in January, teaming up with Lalai and Ariana Vafadari on Lalai. Inspired by the concept of letting go, the track acts as the latest precursor to his much-anticipated 2022 album.

Satori spoke on the formation of the piece, describing how: “The song is sung by Iranian opera singer Ariana Vafadari and recorded in a 400 year old water well. Initially she wrote the lyrics for her son, for when she takes him to bed, but eventually we gave it a broader meaning. It became more of a ‘goodbye’ song, that represents the ‘letting go’ of a person or the ‘letting go’ of day into night.

“The two extremes were my inspiration. On one side you have Ariana, the lullaby, which is very delicate and romantic. On the other hand you have the heavy electronic sounds of beats and synths. It was a big challenge to bring these worlds together but I am very happy with the result.”

An enchanting cut, Lalai showcases the transcendent sound with which Satori has become best known. It builds slowly, meandering through rustling hats and tribal-like drum patterns, whilst the dulcet tones of both vocalists shimmer softly throughout. Perfectly matched for spiritual dancefloor moments, it makes for the ideal sequel to his November single: Yellow Blue Bus.

From holding down an eighteen month residency at Heart, Ibiza to having nearly four-hundred-thousand listeners on Spotify each month, Satori is a truly worldwide artist in today’s electronic music scene. Having been championed by Damian Lazarus early on in his career, he has emerged as a must-see live act for fans from all corners of the globe. November marked the start of his USA tour, where his Maktub concept adorned some of the country’s most iconic clubbing institutions, whilst his discography speaks for itself, with a plethora of acclaimed releases on labels including Crosstown Rebels, Sol Selectas and DGTL Records to name a few.

Dirty sound , rough, smooth, heady ...... free, solar, scorching, fidgeting ..... sounds , bubbles of sounds jolted in a shaker.

Sound to vibrate together, to stamp your foot , rise your hands, your heart as if it were cramped for room, ready to blow up .

Sound to settle almost on your own, lying there with a frantic heart, free and solar.
An applicant for mad love.

To tell about electronic music, with rhythms, caesuras like telling yourself stories : without any boundaries, ageless, stemmed from any kind of style and from any kind of influences.
Rhythms that sometimes get feverish, wrap themselves up , are in harmony or on the contrary bump into one another , "metronomic" , even discordant .

Sounds with romantic lyricism, like a long moan, mixed with some mechanical and repetitive movements, almost disembodied, emphasizing this soft darkness.

Fragments of voices - like silent zones rising to express the unutterable of feelings : 
what you carry in yourself as a sum of contradictions ..... 
Music as an ephemeral protection against pain and happiness - music as a smasher of concerns.

This tentacular music has been running with big bubbles into Olivier Valles ' veins ( founder of the label ) for more than 15 years during which he has been keeping close to it , looking for it , transcending it in his production and in his sets : It is always the same story : many stories , he makes up , lighting his way , fooling himself , little by little or on the contrary from sheets to sheets , getting lost , sinking into less merciful skies.
..... A trench work , inexorable .
..... A work on the course of time .

The choice of the high-lighted pieces will be appropriate to this will of symbiosis between several musical streams , coming from techno or not .

Similar to the live of Sweet alchemy : a mix of current sounds and of classical and classy harmonies .... Dark and heady sheets with sharp and incisive sounds.

Saltydog really wants to make the connection between several styles of music and different artists , Dj's , players of the techno scene in order to generate a common emulation , not that different from the fever of the old parties , of a vibrating evolution , from which Olivier Valles is coming from.

The label also wants to generate multidisciplinary arts : a desire to distinguish oneself and to accompany an already peculiar world : 
photos, artists paintings , "literary and poetic" writings will go with the different tracks, trying to draw the different individualities.

Harmonizing that way many artistic facets, the label wants to locate itself in a contemporary sphere of influence where anything can be transformed, transcend, where art and beauty are an integral part of our world.
A melting pot of aspirations and of creations around electronic music.

Saltydog will accommodate artists who have the same wish: not to change things but to put forward a tangible emotion : this union of the melodious and of the barbarous of the essential and of the trivial , this confrontation of modern and old sounds , atmospherical that beat with madness and for voluble harmonies which assert themselves as an evidence.

A wonderful story that begins , for ever rewritten for the eternity.

Dire la musique électronique, avec des rythmes, des césures comme se raconter des histoires : sans frontières , sans âge , issue de tous les styles et de toutes les influences.
Des rythmes qui tantôt  s'enfièvrent , s'enroulent , s'harmonisent ou au contraire se heurtent , métronomiques , voire dissonants .   

Des sons au lyrisme romantique , tels une longue plainte , mélangés à quelques mouvements mécaniques et répétitifs , presque désincarnés , accentuant cette douce noirceur .

Des bribes de voix - comme des plages de silence - s'élevant pour exprimer l'indicible des sentiments : ce que l'on porte en nous comme somme de contradictions.... La musique pour se protéger même fugitivement de la souffrance et du bonheur . La musique comme "briseuse de soucis" .

Cette musique tentaculaire coule à gros bouillons dans ses veines , depuis plus de 15 ans , qu'olivier vallès , fondateur du label , la côtoie , la cherche , la transcende dans sa production et dans ses sets : à chaque fois c'est la même histoire : des tas d'histoires qu'il fabrique , s'éclairant , se mystifiant , progressivement , ou au contraire , de nappes en nappes , se perdant, s'enfonçant dans des cieux moins cléments . 
...... Un travail de sape , inexorable . 
...... Un travail sur le temps . 

Le choix des morceaux mis en exergue seront en adéquation avec cette volonté de symbiose entre plusieurs courants musicaux , issus de la techno   ou non.
Semblable au live de sweet alchemy : un mélange de sons actuels et d'harmonies classiques et classieuses ..... des nappes sombres entêtantes à des sons secs et percutants . 

Saltydog-records à la volonté de faire le lien entre plusieurs styles de musique et différents artistes , Djs , acteurs de la scène techno , pour générer une émulation commune , pas si différente de la fièvre des anciennes soirées , d'une trépidante évolution d' ou est issu olivier vallès .

Le label se veut également générateur d'art pluri-disciplinaire : un désir de se distinguer et d'accompagner un univers déjà particulier :
des photos , des tableaux d'artistes , des écritures " littéraires et poétiques" , accompagneront les différents tracks , tentant de dessiner les différentes individualités . 
Alliant ainsi plusieurs facettes artistiques , le label veut se situer dans une mouvance contemporaine ou tout peut être transformé , transcendé , ou l'art et la beauté font partie intégrante de notre monde .
Un melting-pot d'aspirations et de créations autour de la musique électronique .

saltydog hébergera des artistes confirmés ou non qui ont ce même désir : non pas de changer les choses mais de mettre en avant une émotion palpable : cette alliance du mélodieux et du barbare , de l'essentiel et du futile , cette confrontation de sonorités nouvelles et anciennes , et cette recherche passionnée de petits sons bullaires , atmosphériques , qui frappent avec démence et d'harmonies volubiles qui s'imposent la , comme une évidence . Une belle histoire qui commence , à jamais réécrite , pour l'éternité .
