Quickie from us: "So we actually wrote Fenech-Soler a while back with interest in working on their track ‘Magnetic,’ but we were too late it had already ran its course… Lucky for us they offered up their upcoming single ‘Last Forever’ and we loved it! We couldn’t be more excited to work with a band like Fenech-Soler, they have a great fresh sound, are working their asses off just as we are, and they have British accents, we love British accents… The only trouble of this song was the tempo. So, with that in mind we had to stretch the vocals but it actually turned out really nice over our chords. On top of that our chord work on the remix is a structure we had been playing with for a while and were very happy when the chords paired up nicely with the emotion of the song and the rest as music should, came naturally…”

Here is our remix of Johnny Stimson's second single, 'Daddy's Money' 

This remix definitely gave us a chance to get back to our roots a bit. At the onset of this project, our sound was much more 80s style, and heavily inspired by the Valerie Collective sound of futuristic Italo Disco with driving bass lines and sparkly synth diddys. As of late we've been producing much more cooled out, ambient house-infused R&B grooves, but 'Daddy's Money' provided a platform for us to make something a bit more up beat, with that retro feel we've always loved. Johnny's powerful vocals are both catchy and relatable, so we wanted to make sure to preserve the emotional energy present in the original track. We didn't want to change the theme of the story he's telling, just put our own twist on it and relay the account from a slightly different point of view. Johnny presents the epilogue to a tale of being with an unhappy rich girl who's impossible to please.....We give you the sequel.

Note about the Song: We actually first heard the song via Monsieur Adi’s Remix and thought it was awesome but were curious to hear the original, so we checked it out and loved Say Lou Lou's original but thought there was still room for a really upbeat version with our progressive indie flare (we hate the word flare). What really appealed to us about Say Lou Lou was they have this renegade softness, its sorta punk but not, that makes no sense right, but there is sort of care-free beautiful nature to there voices and we thought we could make a summer anthem with this baby, or die trying (side note: at no point were we close to death in the making of this remix) So we got the stems, and wanted to create something that really screams 'let me in I want to fucking dance, but I also brought my own beer.'  So here is how we did it:

So when their ppl reached out to us about doing a remix it was the easiest decision ever. We can't say it wasn't a challenge though with such a strong vocal, but we really wanted to pin it up against the classic 'house music pluck' we have been hearing so much of, but use it in a vain that felt a bit different but still large, but finding that union was tough in the sense the two had to warm up to each other rather than clash... but in the end we think we found this great atmosphere for the song to exist."
