I made most of it a while ago but now because of quarantine I went back and made it a bit nicer to listen to so i'm happy uploading it
i'd say this is basically an example of where i'm at in my experiment quality wise and tbh i don't hate it
i think i'll make a couple more software only songs and then start recording stuff LIVE because what the fuck else am i meant to do

019 Dragon Gems

Completed song in almost exactly two and a half hours. In total probably 5 hours spent in software, and 30 minutes collecting sounds in my kitchen. It's short but I think it's a complete little experience. Fuck making synth patches, I still have no clue how most of that works.

Onto the next one, I suppose.

020 Your Dinner is Ready

It's been a little over a week since my last anything and I have another creation to share. This one is different in that it has lyrics that are sung (by me) and that is terrifying. I don't sing, have never sung, and never really saw myself doing so. Just not a skill I had and not one I magically have now.

I want to keep tackling new things, I don't want to get bogged down in specifics I just always want to be actually doing the stuff I want to be doing. Everything is a process of analysing what is stopping me from progressing, and eliminating that problem. So this was me having a first attempt at singing, writing lyrics, and mixing live vocals. I can't express how close to insanity I came re-recording lines and at some point I just figured: This is a hobby. I am not being paid to do this. There are other things I want to do. It is done.

I like to think I always punch up above my weight in regards to the projects I start. I begin these insane things that are so obviously out of my reach but those just happen to be the things I want to do. I don't have to do them well, no one's listening(right?). I want to do six cover songs. I want to do a sci fi rock opera. I want to do a music video. I have a catalogue of song ideas I want to work through. I want to play live. I have many many other things I want to learn to slowly improve my shit. When I look up to see how far I have to go, it looks infinite. But I'm miles higher than I was six months ago, one month ago, even one week ago.

Maybe I'll come back to this in a years time and we'll see if I can make it something worth listening to on Spotify. But in the meantime, I guess I'll continue to swim up the waterfall. If you couldn't tell I've already described what the song is about. Probably won't write this much on the other ones but this is basically my music journal.

This song took, like, idk… 15-20 hours sounds accurate? Felt like 80. Half of those spent re-recording and mixing vocals to no avail.

so here i am with more poorly produced software tunes, but this one's kinda cool idk as always there's oh so much more with it but gotta move on i have like three other things i keep splitting time between i do not need a fourth. btw send me a dm if you ever wanna just screw around and make some tunes in a very throwing paint at the wall crash course shtick. even if you have no experience, you'd be surprised what you can do in two hours.

i was bored today so i thought i'd start working on a cover of ELO's "Twilight" from Time. this is my progress so far. have all the fundamentals, but there's much cleaning up to do and i have some ideas of my own to throw in there. and it wouldn't be a dinosaur man thing if it didn't sound just a little garbage.
