Daptone Records imprint Dunham Records present Love In The Wind, the debut album from the Sha La Das featuring harmonic sensibilities rooted in doo wop, blues, and soul. The album was truly a family affair within both the Daptone and Schalda family.

Produced by Thomas Brenneck, Love In The Wind features a number of the players that have helped define the Daptone Sound including members of The Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley, and Menahan Street Band. And, at the heart of the record, there are the four Schaldas: three talented brothers and the father who taught his boys group harmonies on the stoop of their Staten Island home growing up.

Pop Idol Apologizes For Being Attacked (FAWM demo)

Apologize for the $hitty mix, but in the spirt of FAWM (February Album Writing Month) just trying to get to 14 songs...so here it goes. (Maybe will improve later.)

When I first moved to Japan back in 2006 I remember being extremely amused by the grocery store, especially the animatronic singing/dancing vegetables. But even now, I find it so funny how different parts of the grocery store will have a boom box playing something special. The sample at the beginning of this track was next to the roasted sweet potato section of the store. Yaki Imo is always sort of associated with sound and music for me, as often trucks will cruise around neighborhoods with a jingle saying "yaki imo" sort of like the ice cream truck I grew up with in the US (although much healthier here I might add.) So I thought it would be fun to just work with this sample and make a weird little ode to sweet potato. Just a silly weirdo track for fun. Enjoy :)
