the only thing stopping 'em is a piece of paper
can't cross borders without visa status

the boy was a traveller, most of his life
and he couldn't sit still in a box, so trite
since his family took him around at all costs
the map in his head much bigger than most
something you can't share in a class, of course
he had to find a nest for himself and earn a source
of income that helped him to stay nomadic 
a gypsy if you will the norm is dramatic
no shortage of romantic tales to tell
at a fireplace reminiscin' goin' through hell
and back just to find his own paradise
maybe a paradox but oh well, worth the fight
'cause he found a mate in a girl opposite of him
she only knew of cities illustrated in film
the two became an item and talked about places
he swore to show her 'round to a hundred faces
back pack, duffle bag, instead of suitcases
bought tix for amazing races
snapback, straw hat, shoes without laces
took flicks, breathtaking spaces
so the couple made stacks of albums
and wanted to continue so the natural outcome
would be to live together but now how come
they need to get papers for a country to allow them

although, they had to choose their separate ways
with a promise to reunite the couple spent days
workin’ and at nightshifts, staying in touch
missed each other much like a limp without a crutch
the girl shy, but blossomed like a butterfly

language was a barrier, only for a brief
moment 'cause she knew a superior belief, yo
a new way to live life to the fullest
the color of a sunny sky is the truest
everything is a canvas, a media
mixed on untamed walls, graffiti art

one day she bought a ticket out the pocket
hopped on a plane with an empty closet
but when she finally landed, cruelty
the immigration officer started to grill her

but the flag was raised so she was whisked away,

but the intense questioning went on and on

as the breaker to his heart remained closed at best

vicariously through your own lens, ‘sup
