Americans trying to imitate UK garage... did we do a good job? Renato Teroy and Samuelroy certainly had a lot of fun and enjoy this song. We figured it's a good type of track to mix into a house set; apparently everybody plays house these days - WHY NOT throw in a bit of a break-beat into the mix?

This Waylon Smithers song was made no later than in Spring 2010 in about exactly 3 days because the infamous tyrant of the SF performance scene, Bryan Dini, decided that he needed a song made out of a Walt Witman poem or possibly Oscar Wilde poem (I believe). Basically, he presented a challenge to two very 'self challenging artists - Rahni Simpson and Sam Kehl.' Since they always accept a challenge, they did it and put a lot into it - they were proud of the recording in particular. Sam sings more in this song than he usually does, and sounds a bit different than usual. Hopefully it works - experimenting has been a bit part of this project strictly driven by two very opinionated, different, and similar people. (that love the hell out of each other because they can't believe anybody somebody else can keep up with each other on the same musical mindscape that they can feel and understand, but not necessarily define in words. An 'understood' connection more than one of rules and barriers.

Waylon Smithers - Each man kills the thing he loves

One of my first tracks ever - done on Fruity Loops before I had Logic Pro, probably 2003, maybe even 2002. It was before I was really serious about production, and I didn't know much about the 'genre' it falls into.. which was like 'Glitchy-techno-breaks'  or something. However, I've always liked it a lot and get really nice compliments when I play it for people. The main thing that I wish I did differently at this point is pan the drums more - I might not have even done it at all... don't remember. However, it's kinda cool because the synth line pans back and forth really slowly, so it's a kinda smooth combination - at least I think so. So here it is, download it if you want it because I'm not keeping it on forever.

A DJ friendly electro house song with old-school piano chords, male falsetto vocals. Original done under my, Sam Kehl's, moniker 'Samnation,' but this one was remixed by him with the help of his friend Tierny who goes by the name Fayt Transfer when making music. It was a fun experiment for us both - I had been told by a DJ friend of mine that he would play it out if I did an extended version. Well - viola! Here it is! Enjoy.

The first song I produced for NYC rapper Rica Shay. He's on fire and we plan to do some more together. Check him out at soundcloud.com/rica-shay and on the Accidental Bear Tour this summer! Let it be known that he was very active in the production process of this song - very specific about which sounds he liked, didn't like and was able to step back from it for a moment then ask for new elements. It took a long time to finish but I'm glad for it because I think it's really quite good :)
