Artiste et dj éclectique imprégnée à la fois de son héritage franco-éthiopien et de culture rave et techno, Hewan Aman (@hewizee) s’emploie à créer des univers enivrants au groove métissé. Une âme singulière, à la recherche de contrastes sonores. Jamais linéaire, toujours solaire, même à ses heures les plus introspectives. Ses sets sont des virées galopantes, infusées de trance, techno, breaks & drums. 

Pour cette première sur Ola elle nous a concocté un podcast downtempo aux antipodes de sa vitesse de croisière habituelle une respiration entre deux gigs. Un condensé d'émotion, de groove et de clins d'oeils aux merveilleuses inspirations qui ont été posées sur son chemin ces derniers mois. Certains s'y reconnaîtront forcément. 

ça donne un mélange d'ambient, slow psy & trance, drums, dub et l'occasion d'insérer une track de Mikael Seifu, un producteur éthiopien qu'elle affectionne particulièrement.

'PLASMA' (Плазма) is a 1997 trance track by producer Eduard Gubin (aka Cosmonaut, aka Radiotrance). "He was one of the first electronic music artists who has been successfully pulling in big crowds all over Russia and Eastern Europe. For over two decades his mission has been to transport the masses to a vivid alternate realm of progressive house, techno, breaks and trance" (RA).

Joining me today will be East-London based megababe disc jockey BETHAN (@bethan_l ):
A regular at Dalston’s much loved queer venue Dalston Superstore, and at parties such as Bodycon & GAUCHE, Bethan’s style is not limited to one specific genre; she enjoys digging deep into her collection, playing a variety of 90s/early 2000s selections mixed with newer releases covering trance, techno, acid, breakbeat, golden era drum & bass and beyond, in order to take the listener on a sonic journey through history.💞

In theme with the tragedies happening in the world right now, this month's artwork depicts Ukrainian party Cxema (pronounced “Skhema”), "the series of techno events which serve as spaces for Kyiv’s audiovisual and bodily revolution. Cxema was born in Ukraine in a time of disillusionment by the Maidan, the country’s militarization, increased panic about impending war, counterrevolution, and economic crisis. Raves became spaces for revolutionary pathos to maintain its validity despite the passing time, and – on the contrary – to grow stronger and reach increasing numbers of people. As it repeatedly brought together up to two thousand young progressives on a single dance floor, in the dreamy mood of total freedom, Cxema offered a space radically different from its surrounding reality."
