Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, our mix series showcasing amazing artists from around the world. For the 144th edition, we bring you a mix from Netherlands-based DJ, Ambu Bambu.

With breakbeat, electro, and percussive experimentalism, Ambu Bambu will take you on a bouncy journey through broken electronic rhythms. She pays homage to her ethnic heritage by using melodies and sounds inspired by traditional Chinese music, blending moody, fast-paced electronics with Asian motifs.

As a resident at Relate Radio, she presents her monthly show called 'Electronic Identity Crisis' -the title being an ode to growing up bicultural- which features wonderfully weird, difficult-to-categorise electronic music.

Since entering the scene, her recognisable sound was quickly picked up by radio stations, clubs, and festivals alike, and she now has performances under her belt at some of the Netherlands' leading events, such as Soenda, Thuishaven, and Down the Rabbit Hole.

In Greek mythology, the musical sage Orpheus used his lyre to play music that compelled both humans and animals to follow him, leading them into the unknown and distant realms of underwater depths, forests, towering mountains, and even the depths of the underworld. Music can be seen as the embodiment of the spiritual, not meant to convey knowledge in the logical or intellectual sense, nor to take on physical form. Instead, it triggers our deepest associations, guiding us into the unconscious, allowing us to merge the spiritual with the natural. As a result, music constitutes a profoundly important and primitive form within human civilization.
