As detailed in his interview with German publication Froh Froh, “the interview with Narciss was different. Colorful Hawaiian shirt instead of matt black, nicotine chewing gum instead of butt. In terms of content between kitsch, cutie, but also serious - no intrusive promo.”

This freshness truly comes across in his latest EP for Lobster Theremin. Dear Diary - releasing on June 4th - is an emotionally charged journey through smoked-filled rooms and packed-out corridors; lasers, strobes and wide eyes. As much a throwback to the golden era of trance as it is an ode to the producers techno aesthetic, it encapsulates an energy release - an escape from the grimness of the mundane, the fear of contemporary society left at the door as we venture further front left.

‘Ludmilla’ gets things started; a cut of tranced-out, progressive techno that builds and builds, emotional vocal stabs (“I need you”) further enhancing the connection between body and mind, listener and selector. ‘Tall People’ follows a similar route - deeper into the trance revival that has seen artists like Bliss Inc, New Members and Marlon Hoffstad producing some timelessly similar euphoria - it’s scenic techno, if the scene was an anime figure racing across a field on horseback.

The steady 4x4 rhythms are replaced on ‘It Gets Easier’; fast-paced sentiment that floats somewhere between breaks and garage, wrapped up in that signature trancey texture, before 'Blicke' featuring Ikki Mel shows us the door with a completely different take on the previous three moods; this time offering up an altogether harder showcasing of the rave sound with its classic synth stabs and uncompromising kicks.

Jannowitz Records main honcho BOHO and Jaw Dropping Records label head Rachel Raw racked their brains over the question „Who should do the ﬁrst release of 2020“ until they ﬁnally thought: Why not do it ourselves?  And this is exactly what both did: BOHO teamed up with his good mate Reza Golroo to produce some classic Jannowitz Records tracks - you know, the good stuﬀ that made you fall in love with the label. After their brilliant debut on Spanish uber-label Bully Beatz it felt like the right way to go. 

„Medusa“ is the name of the EP, but before we talk you through the tracks, we want to point out the fantastic cover artwork by Italian tattoo artist Mirco Campioni. He did a great job on this super trippy medusa head. We want to get it tattoed immediately! 
 
But back to business: You'll ﬁnd two original bangers on the EP. „Medusa“ is more stripped-down, raw, progressive and minimal techno, one of the sounds that Jannowitz Records became famous for. The second track „Mad Max“ feels groovier with more focus on the percussive elements – you'll see the Reza Golroo inﬂuence there. But the evil vocal gives BOHO's participation away.  

Three of our favorite artists were kind enough to provide remixes of „Mad Max“ for the EP. All three of which are true bombs. Colombian DJ and producer Juan DDD – in real life he goes by Juan Diego Mendoza Patiño –went deeper with the bass and put in some spacey elements. Jannowitz Records artist Mycell who is a very dear friend oft he label did what he does best: Full on power with slashing hi-hats and a very heavy kick. And Italian super duo Mr. Bizz – you'll know them from their various releases on Jannowitz Records and our sister label Jaw Dropping Records – went so far that you probably won't recognize the original anymore. Their remix almost feels like a meditation: very hypnotic but not less energetic!
