'The Soundgarden returns with electronic figurehead Nick Warren and Argentinian superstar Nicolas Rada joining forces on a new four-track EP, including a stunning remix from Edinburgh-based producer Stillhead. 

Nick Warren’s place in the dance music halls of fame is well established. Since the early 90s he’s released music on a variety of labels - including turning his hand to heading up the A&R for Bristol uberlabel Hope Recordings - before taking the reins at his own label, The Soundgarden. 

For Nicolas Rada, the journey is still just unfolding. His love of UK indie rock band Radiohead opened him up to dance music, and over the last 10 years he has quietly built a head of steam through his productions (and been able to count his heroes Danny Howells, John Digweed and Nick Warren himself among an ever-growing army of admirers). 

The tracks themselves capture a perfect moment in time. Deep, lingering pads and soft percussion creates vivid mental imagery as the tracks reveal themselves. Lead track ‘Land of Dreams’ is a bongo-led fairytale journey punctuated by rhodesy keys and emotive strings. On the remix, Stillhead uses all his years of genre-hopping expertise to take things in a broken beat garage direction, straddling dub, UKG and eerie IDM abstraction. 

Elsewhere in the EP, ‘Serengeti’ is emboldened by tribal bass tones, galloping percussions and deep, evolving pads before building into an epic masterpiece, and the 80s-inspired ‘The Hands of Strangers’ rounds out the pack with some classic Way Out West-style melodics.'

Welcome to ZEHN002, where Betoko and Haze-M invite you to experience their melodic infused techno spheres. The London based DJ and producer Betoko prepared two well crafted tracks with Tunisian artist Haze-M for this EP, and both are techno weapons with a subtle melodic groove. Over the years, Betoko and Haze-M managed to create anthems that were released on labels like Diynamic, Suara, Katermukke, Einmusika, Get Physical and now ZEHN Records.

'Rebirth' envelopes you with its hypnotising chants and and stimulates your body to a progressive journey. It has a perfect balance of energy to give the crowd a boost, without being too overpowering. It makes it easy to create a story/set from there says Betoko himself on the tune, after opening many of his sets with it on South America tour. "I have never been a huge fan of Eastern/Indian vocals beacuse I feel they have been used alot, but when I heard this particular track I was hypnotized, it was almost like it spoke to me and in my mind I made my own lyrics and story.”

A natural for stirring melodies, Berlin-based Sam Shure channels his all-around manifold array of talents into his debut album.

With its versatile moods yet compact constructions, Laconia is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The album features ten tracks that draw on Sam’s jazzy Egyptian roots while staying grounded in his usual melodic, mood-heavy aesthetic. Laconia features collaborations with fellow producers Cioz and Cook Strummer, as well as a special apparition by Sam’s paternal figure playing the Oud on Mirage. The tracks explore a diverse array of dispositions, from groovy up-warmers such as Mangata or Louna to more lively dancefloor aggregators such as Kamala Bani, on to the deeply polarizing, whirlwind synth dinger Guz or the more experimental self-evident Not Much To Say.

A novel detail makes an appearance on Je te vois, an acoustic electronic dance number with poetic lyrics tenderly sung in French for the first time. The artist’s romantic side also shows through the mystical elements interspersed throughout, from the spellbinding Encanto to the dreamy soundscapes of Atreyu, named after the famous German fantasy book character.

Thanks to a modest key riff and more cosmic effects, Aubade lends its meaning of “greeting in the sun” to the atmosphere, rounding off the release on an incandescent note.

Antrim’s storied Or Two Strangers launched a sub label back in June. Strangers Beats thus showcases up-and-comers within the progressive house realm. Featuring young talents like Sebastian Sellares, Jonnas B and Carl OS, its roster extends beyond South America for only the second time. Weird Sounding Dude figuratively and literally epitomizes the Argentinian imprint’s eccentric brand. Known for "trademark chuggy grooves and squelchy rhythms,” the Indian delivers a highly dynamic debut in “Dreamers!" Release B-side “Eden” conjures celestial visions through rich textures, subtle melodies and robust beats.

Premiere: Weird Sounding Dude - Eden [Strangers Beats]

In celebration of Replug's ten year anniversary Cid Inc & Orsen present their debut collaboration alongside remixes from Nick Muir and Barry Jamieson. Founded in 2009 by Finnish artist and DJ Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc., Replug has carefully forged a path to progressive music excellence. Through releasing much of Henri's most sought after material to the genre's freshest artists, the label has continued to flourish and forever has it's finger on the pulse of the movement. Having already released his ‘Look Twice' EP in March of 2015, it was January of 2016 which saw UK born, Austria based artist Dan Baseley aka Orsen take over the label's managerial duties. A key moment in Replug's journey, as Cid Inc's tour schedule and mastering service had left him less time to focus on the label. Moving forward the duo proved to be a great team, with Replug furthering itself as a premiere destination for progressive music's most sought after talent. Now in what has been a remarkable decade long journey, it seems only appropriate that Cid Inc and Orsen unite to commemorate the occasion with the aptly titled ‘Ten'.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of ‘Ten' is Nick Muir. Beloved for being one half of Bedrock during the golden era of progressive house, Nick and John Digweed were responsible for some of the genres most beloved tracks, namely ‘For What You Dream Of', ‘Heaven Scent', ‘Voices' and ‘Emerald'. Fast forward to present day and Nick continues to collaborate with John, working on projects for Watergate, Systematic and of course Bedrock.  Having first appeared on Replug in October of 2011 with a remix of Raxon's ‘Into The Summer', Nick now makes a welcome return and provides a stunning take on ‘Ten'. Taking a cue from the original while adding a techno state of mind, the UK artist carves out a dynamic groove adorned with firing percussive, acidic lines and fresh rhythmic themes. Esoteric chord changes provide a unique emotional response, as icy pads create a bridge into the main break. Compelling and tense, the centrepiece is a sensory delight, with its dramatic flair, vibrant theme and piercing build ending in a huge crescendo and striking re-entry.
