It was in 2014 when a mutual friend introduced me to Victor Ruiz while he was staying here in Berlin. I invited Victor to my studio where we had a fantastic session, playing our music to each other, listening to stuff we like and simply talkin and connecting. Since then, we became close friends as well as starting to work together. Victor has released two outstanding EPs on Electric Ballroom by now. This summer we met again and recorded three tracks. The result is our first joint EP, of which I am very proud. (Thomas Schumacher, November 2015)

2015 saw Stephan Bodzin release his second full length, “Powers of Ten”, as well as a new single on DJ Tennis’ and Tale of Us’ taste making label Life and Death. The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

‘Glutes’ is peak-time material without being overly fast or chaotic, the energy instead coming from the transportive arrangement and emotive melodic content. The same can be said for Bäumel’s ‘Surge’ on Kompakt, an anthem in the sets of Tale Of Us last year which led to this release.

The title track rises and falls, surging with wide-sweeping synth notes and a steady rhythm to anchor the waves. An infectious refrain pulls you further in and, right on cue, the kick drum continues to beat the sweet spot. ‘Engage’ is filled with similarly subtle details, uplifting arpeggios and atmospheric reverb. Half-way through the melody bursts into life, shining brightly through the haze and creating one of those moments of release that make the Afterlife sound work so well on a dancefloor.

AL004 - Patrice Bäumel - Engage

In music, sampling is the act of taking a portion, or sample, of one sound recording and reusing it as an instrument or a sound recording in a different song or piece.

In this case, Child was on his yearly expedition to Mozambique to learn more about the National animal, the Elephant. He came across a small vinyl shop and an unmarked record that was a little worse for wear but when he heard it, he knew that there was something special that needed to be done with it. So with a very poor internet connect he sent over a sample to Andy (Doppel) which was met with excitement and was urged to spend the 32 cents in purchasing it.

So, after consulting with his bank advisor and being approved for a second mortgage, he bought the master piece and never looked back.

The package is rounded out by classy remixes which don't stray away from using the percussion and vocal elements of the original. Jamie Stevens teams up with The Journey to provide a progressive take on the original with some loose percussion and an arp that lifts the record throughout. Colognes very own Tim Engelhardt rounds out the package with an emotive touch on the original with clever use of horns and a captivating bassline. Tim's production has been a stand out to us for quite a while now and its absolute pleasure to have him join the Ugenius Music Family.

Brighton-born, Berlin-based artist BEC will release her latest EP, Sines & Breaks, via Voight on June 29. 

The EP introduces listeners to BEC's more experimental side, presenting three spacey techno weapons of varying intensity. Bleep techno is an obvious touchstone for the record, as seen in its name and the three tracks, which range from the trippy gallop of "Sines & Breaks 1" to the more spacey and emotive "Sines & Breaks 2" and the closing cut's sinister melodies and swinging groove. Sines & Breaks is an impressive notch in the belts for both BEC and Voight and one that will surely find its way into the record bags of techno jocks the world over.

Mexico’s Tenampa returns armed with another selection of Underground goods. 

D-Nox has become an internationally renowned performer, Dj & Producer for his innovative and unusual sets. 
Previously releasing music on labels such as: Bedrock, Sudbeat, Suara and Plattenbank,
the German born teams up this time with a couple of his South American counterparts to deliver 
two excellent tracks, both crafted by producers that are top of their game. 

We kick off with D-Nox collaboration with Argentinian producer: Santiago Franch, delivering a serious slab of driving acidic Techno goodness in “A dose of Acid”, which builds and intensifies, gliding you through a sea of solid naughtiness. 

Teaming up with Brazilian producer Spuri is the track “Principal Duty”. With equally phat peak stature, but with a more melodic feel. A hypnotic lead takes us deeper with this great late night workout. 

An excellent release that will no doubt gain support from the world's elite Djs.

'Upon Access presents UAVA Vol. 1, the first various artists release series, capturing a range of sounds that resinate with the label. The release start off with ”Watershed" by Doppel - showing off his story-telling approach with the track immediately grasping your attention with eerie sounds whilst bringing depth to solid bass lines and twisting synth work that weaves throughout the track. 
 
"Wyde" comes from Upon Access favourite - Somersault. The title says it all with his signature wide synth work. Its beautiful percussion progresses throughout and the bass lines are purely made for the the dance floor. 
 
Sweetland's track "Osaka" was truly inspired whilst travelling through Japan. Pushing a well rounded techno sound with its dense rolling bass and odd like synth hues, that fall away once a range of dreamy synths cascade in. The final track comes from label head Made in Paris with "Forgotten Soul" featuring her own vocals, evolving synths and driving bass lines, capturing an emotional journey and leaving you with a closing style number.'
