lie to me is a love song that emphasises on the back and forth ,the force of falling in and out of love all at once. in essence,a contradiction. 
how loving someone can mean hurting them ,how confusing it can be to see and feel different things,how actions cannot match the words said. 
hence the continuous emphasis on contradiction in the first verses of the song. it is all nothing but mind games. 
so the question lies, why would you lie ?
