Co-mixed by Jarrett Floyd, Peter Leonard, Sam Naples, and Dylan Sundberg, representing University of Michigan in a national collegiate mixing competition sponsored by Audio Technica.
The restrictions of contest were as follows: we had to use only 8 microphones as provided by Audio Technica, and the mix had to be recorded live-to-two. 
Ultimately, we placed third in the competition (looking forward to hopefully snagging gold next year).

For the last month-plus, I have been working tirelessly on new music.  I wouldn't trade making music for anything else in the world, but today's realities of putting out music--composing, arranging, conducting sound design, getting the song under your fingers, recording, re-recording, mixing, mastering, funding, marketing your release--the process from beginning to end can be quite daunting, and it can end up taking much longer than desired to actually share music with my friends, family, and peers.  This past weekend, I traveled up to rural northwest lower Michigan to visit my parents.  Doing this is like stepping into a time capsule; there were no fancy microphones or software audio workstations . . . my parents still have not even gotten a working internet connection installed into their home.  So, while 'up north', the process of making music was streamlined into just playing an acoustic guitar into my phone's voice recorder.  This is a simpler and more restrictive form of music making, but it reminded me of the sheer emotional power stripping things back can bring to music.  So here's one of the things I messed around with: a cover of Daniel Johnston's whimsical and heartbreaking masterpiece, Walking the Cow.

If you happened to be in your adolescent/teen years in 2003, or if you ever had a friend with a smoking hot mom, this song needs no introduction.
