Two years on from their cryptic debut on Counterraism, Horseshit and Le Pépiniériste slink back onto the scene, ready to drag you through a twisted, unconventional blend of dark disco, EBM, italo disco, and psychedelic trance. Brace yourself for a wild ride into the abyss of electronic chaos.

Le Pépiniériste, once the elusive mastermind behind Paris's underground electronic webradio and the clandestine host of intimate parties shrouded in mystery, now emerges as a sage columnist at StarWax magazine. His evolution from a hardcore free party fanatic to a purveyor of electro, slow beats, and mind-altering psychedelic techno hints at a darker transformation lurking beneath the surface.

Meanwhile, Horseshit, the tireless digger of sound, the rebel with a penchant for punk-rock rebellion, post-punk introspection, and the pulsating rhythm of funk and new wave, has been crafting sonic mosaics since 2014. His sets, oscillating between electrifying electro, tantalizing nu disco, and hypnotic trance, promise to drag you into the depths of sonic oblivion.

Their clandestine performances at Paris Microclimat parties and their ethereal presence on podcasts like Slow is the New Fast and PornDisco fuel rumors and whispers, igniting anticipation for their return. As they emerge from the shadows once more, their enigmatic creations beckon, promising an odyssey through the twisted corridors of electronic ecstasy.

Veltran's "Extrema y Exuberante" EP, out April 26th, 2024, via @bellydanceservices (BDS021), marks the 21st milestone for the label. Compiled by Nick Hanzo and mastered by Oltrefuturo, the EP features two originals by Mexican artist Veltrán and remixes by A-Tweed and Nick Hanzo himself. We're premiering the ace A-Tweed rework.

Le son de Starion alias Brady (c'est son prénom) est un élément fondamental du label @red-laser-records de Manchester depuis sa toute première sortie... Tout est si bien qu'il est (avec son acolyte @kidmachinemusic), une figure emblématique de ce qu'ils aiment à appeler le son Manctalo. Sa signature de synthé disco est un véritable jam pour un club à la Blade Runner qui serait conçue pour les pistes de danse réservées aux androïdes. Mêlant l'électro des années 80 et le disco dans une fantastique soupe de synthé. 🍜🎹

Following 2020’s 'Point Vacancies', the debut EP from Jamie Paton and Mike Bourne’s collaborative act Metal, the duo return with a trio of dubwise remixes from Mr Paton himself as well as a peak-time stormer from fellow Bristol artist, Hodge. The latter immediately sets the record ablaze with a driving thump, duo of grainy hi-hats and a chalky clap. He layers an anthemic three-chord pad progression, building octaves, peppering in arpeggiated bleeps and articulate lead melodies, then tops it off with a few modular elements that retain the character of the original, before climaxing in true rave fashion. Proper. The following three mixes by Metal’s own Jamie Paton make apparent his sonic obsession — the type of infinite tweaking that sees some artists/producers to the edge of madness, or at the very least satisfies some dragon-chasing addiction. There’s a successive deconstruction from 'Remix' to 'Dubwise' to 'Dubwise II', most notably a reduction of rhythm and drum machinery, but also in general tonality. The melody remains central but is gradually obscured, taking on a less and less recognizable form, and by the end we’re left with a skeleton of the track, quips and cranks, an assembly line of aluminum sheeting punctuated by demented nuts and bolts. As with the previous EP, the sparsity of elements illustrates just how far one can twist aesthetics, proving that self-imposed limitations can often propel an artist’s process and land them somewhere unfamiliar, somewhere foreign, somewhere enchanted.
