The more I started writing this piece, the more my subjective experience really came out of the woodwork. Back years ago whenever I was a teacher, my principals sexually harassed me and told me I appeared to be a homosexual. I was devastated and scared. I remember it happening on a Friday and I was just relieved that I would be able to spend the weekend with someone who loved me unconditionally. Zach and I had only been dating for almost two months. I didn’t feel loved at work, where I lived, and Zach was the only one who was there for me during this bleak and depressing time.
I remember that Sunday being so afraid for the next week to come and having to communicate with my bosses’ boss about how they wronged me and I was so scared and upset. I just remember feeling so hopeless. I had taught Zach earlier how to slow dance and I just remember wrapping this white blanket around me in the middle of my apartment’s living room and him hugging me and securing me. We heard Claire De Lune playing in the background and Zach looks down to me and tells me that I will always be his little princess. I looked up to him and told him that he will always be my knight in shining armor.
It was such a tender moment and it was exactly what I needed in that moment. Looking back years later, I’m so glad to have had that tender and fleeting moment. This is what came to the forefront of the piece as I got deeper into it. I’m really happy with it.

Don’t Know Why I Didn’t Come (Norah Jones)

Growing up, one of the only games that I had for my Gameboy Advance was the Game Boy Camera. I remember the hours of fun I would have with this weird camera cartridge based game. It’s a weird looking device that sticks out the top of one’s Gameboy and the camera can be rotated 180 degrees to take primitive selfies. This song takes advantage of the various chiptune-like sounds found with the Gameboy portable console. I still remember trading my Gameboy Camera in 5th grade for Planet of the Apes (GBA), talk about a bad deal. 😂😭

Just a married, silly goober that is also a furry. I’m choosing to love myself right where I’m at. Some days are easier than others but it’s always worth it.
