Took a face from some dire play

that long ago had wound its way

'cross cobblestone and battlefield



Took a face from Hamlet's daughter

all abloom with watery dark lines

sunshine could've never healed



Yes,  we took a face from daVinci's dream

of life made easy by machine

sight is all ablaze



We took those dark no color eyes

of some nameless man who

left this grass so long ago



And see the rich so elegant all dismal red

the speakeasy pallor all gay

and thick with smoke



Slowly avert your eyes

those eyes of love from who you

see milling this Chandler floor



Our face we adore and adorn and will

never forget what it looked

in its youth



Soon look again at the Play and the scenes

that keep changing authors

all on their own



See,  Robert Heinlein was right and it only figures

we have dreamed up some

outrageous creatures



It's a big universe



Show me your face in that dire play

you've been secretly writing,  my friends,

the one that is fevered and sorely bruised



Or I'll see that young lady before me

what she has writ before will suddenly

vanish her just like she planned



I cannot demand that the uncertain happen

only put it in a special place deep

in a bottle



My handwriting suffers and futures get broken

when I face a blank page, staring

hypnotic slut



Cut off my hands if you think I'm endangering

any lives Saddam

knows the scene

For all the overnight security and maintenance staff at Bishop's University that tolerated our unmerited presence in their practice rooms during the mid 80s.   And for the exceedingly considerate piano sales staff at Eaton's Department Store (Montreal) in the latter 80's that provided impromptu lessons and access to instruments for those of us who couldn't afford them.

Pour tout le personnel de sécurité et d'entretien de nuit de l'Université Bishop's qui a toléré notre présence imméritée dans leurs salles de pratique au milieu des années 80.  Et pour le personnel extrêmement prévenant des vendeurs de pianos du grand magasin Eaton (Montréal) dans les années 80, qui offrait des cours impromptus et un accès aux instruments à ceux d'entre nous qui n'en avaient pas les moyens.

Imagine a serene and ethereal scene: a nighttime sky dotted with stars, with a luminous moon bathing everything in its silvery light. At the center of the image, a human figure sits in a lotus position on a white mat, immersed in transcendental meditation. The figure radiates an aura of peace and tranquility, while around them float mandalas of vivid and vibrant colors, symbols of cosmic energy and harmony. The atmosphere is permeated with a sense of profound inner calm and connection with the universe. All is bliss.

Deep Mind

Even today, modern politicians are educated by what's been dubbed a "manual of statecraft", penned by the so-called Father of Modern Political Philosophy and Political Science, the 16th century Venetian, Niccolò Machiavelli. 

In Machiavelli's book, The Prince, they are taught that no matter how evil the means that they employ are, to achieve victory, the ends will justify those means. Then as the victors, all they have to do is to rewrite the history, to present themselves as the good guys.

This one is a bit different from the others I have put up.  The song itself combines two different ideas I created for different pitches for game songs (both rejected in favor of my "Is It Time" a few months back).  I liked how they sounded together so I expanded them and finished it up this last weekend.

For me, I had the feeling of Alan Wake / Control when making the intro and other parts of the song. I also have a tendency sometimes to just jam a song with notes and arpeggios but I wanted to try doing something with more restraint here.
