Parallelle join forces with Nicolas Masseyeff once again for ‘Renegade’ on Crosstown Rebels, featuring a  remix from Adam Ten & Mita Gami.  

Collaborating previously on DGTL, having known each other for years, Dutch brother duo Parallelle and France’s Nicolas  Masseyeff have created a partnership within the studio that clicks. Parallelle are multi-instrumentalists, composers, producers  and Klassified Records owners with a hybrid sound that mixes up electronica, electro-jazz and underground house, while  Masseyeff is equally accomplished and draws on minimalism, jazz, new wave, Detroit and Chicago when crafting his signature  sound on the likes of Systematic Recordings and Diversions Music. Linking up again, the three talents combine for a first  outing on Crosstown Rebels with ‘Renegade’. 

Thomas of Parallelle says, “We have created a very complementary, fun and fluid creative flow when together in the studio. We  like to keep a renegade mindset and always look for a dirty groove.” And that shows across these latest creations.  

Up first is title track ‘Renegade’, a deep mid-tempo house shuffler. The drums are elegant and airy, with bright chords and a  rasping baseline. It’s a real mood builder with dramatic synth sweeps that brings a sense of class to the dance floor.  

Israeli artists Adam Ten & Mita Gami have been a creative force for the last couple of years, and their ‘High On’ EP on  Crosstown Rebels last year gained huge success, defining a new movement of psychedelic house sounds. Their remix of  ‘Renegade’ offers a slowly unfolding masterclass with moving melodies and modulated synths casting a captivating spell. 

Last of all is ‘Bandidos’, another deep and subtle track infused with rich synth work. The bright lines and deft pads are lithe  and loose over the underlapping drums, encouraging you to gaze in awe as you get lost in the mellifluous groove.

Cued up for the second release on the new imprint No Context is this spicy number from Kyle Watson featuring London-based South African-based artist Evida.

There's a story behind this one. Originally written as part of a separate project, Lost went through eight (yes, eight) previous versions. Rewritten so many times that Kyle apparently started humming it in his sleep, Lost is the perfect example of why you should never give up on those older projects.

Fully embracing the 'works at home as well as in the club' ethos of No Context, Lost is a crossover record anchored around an attention-grabbing fluttering synth. Tight writing and vocal delivery from Evida only elevates the record and is the icing on an already sweet cake. This one feels like an evolution in Kyle's sound, and personally we love to hear it.

Taylor Pierce makes his RDA/world debut with the infectious bopper "Need Some More" featuring Fubu Q.

"Need Some More" comes out the gate with a strong nod-factor. Punchy, crystalline drums are decorated with hi-fi bloopy fragments. The bedazzled musical bed is then further enhanced with groove-heavy vocals from Fubu Q, who's weaving cadences compliment Taylor's modest yet masterful arrangement.

-How long have you been creating music?
I have been doing music since my youth, but how Polymorphic began to make music in 2008. And the big thing that year was also my remix of The Proxy's "Raven" on Turbo Recordings.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
To create music, I used Reason, Ableton, but eventually settled on FL Studio, in this software I feel more free and comfortable.

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
Sometime in 2006 I heard tracks "Who's Afraid Of Detroit" and "Deep Throat" by Claude Vonstroke and was very impressed with them. These tracks inspired me to create music.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
Hah, of course with Claude VonStroke, but I also like a lot of musicians from this label, for example Cour T., Walker & Royce and many others.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
Most likely like this: "What the hell is going on here?"

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Most of all I remember and liked Prodigy's concert, it was very powerful!

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
I would go to the future, I'm very interested in how the world will change in two hundred or three hundred years.

-What species of bird best describes you and why?
Probably a woodpecker, I can do drums for a track for a very long time and it probably looks like a woodpecker knocking on wood.

-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
To be honest, releasing a track on Dirtybird was a very old dream, since I consider this label one of the fundamental and important in tech house music.

Bass Rider EP serves us two solid groovers. "Piña Colada" takes the lead with cheeky percussions and a bouncy, acid inspired bassline. The energetic, gnarly synth sets in accompanied by raw vocal elements, working up some serious momentum while moving towards the fierce break. In "Bass Rider" the high energy continues. It drives forward with its catchy groove. The heavy bassline and smooth drum work creates the perfect frame for the incoming salacious vocals and playful synth stabs.

Once again Paco Osuna's Mindshake Records is proud to welcome back Egbert who returns with Lachgas EP, the label's 49rd release and Egbert's 3rd full EP for the label. 

Egbert's special skills both as a producer and highly acclaimed Live Act have attracted the attention of big names from the electronic scene: Secret Cinema, Sven Väth, Paco Osuna, Gregor Tresher and Adam Beyer are just a few of the DJs and producers who have detected the genius beneath the fingers of this slick young Dutchman.
