One of my strongest and most approachable songs from my solo debut, "Life, Love & Funk, Vol. I" in 2011.  It essentially was a song that I wrote as a prolonged retort to a slogan I often heard while living in Los Angeles, "It's lonely at the top."  Well, as a "nobody" trying to become somebody in the LA music scene, I noticed how similar being at the bottom was to being at the top of the game. Recorded in a way that resembles Timex Social Club/Club Nouveau in storytelling, I wanted this to be a song that anyone listening would be able to sing along and relate to it in some sort of way.

Fortunately, my friend/musical mentor/former private teacher---bassist Darryl Williams---had a jam session at Simply Sharon's Cajun Restaurant in Temecula, CA that is sadly no longer in business.  During my visits, I would bring my handheld digital recorder and record the sessions to self-critique.  "All Blues" was one of the first songs I taught myself once I started listening to Jazz, and I always played it like bassist Paul Chambers did on the recording.

Comin' Home Baby Live

One of my favorite songs from my solo debut, "Life, Love & Funk, Vol. I" in 2011. It is my personal favorite in part due to it being my first recording. Also, my first time recording rhythm guitar as well as soloing on guitar. I wanted this to sound like a song that one would hear at an old blues club somewhere. I was listening to a lot of Johnny "Guitar" Watson at the time of this recording, so he was a big influence on this cut. I decided to make a few minor corrections to the original mix and reintroduce it with some new material for "Vol.II," debuting 4 May 2017... Please Enjoy!

I found what may be the only copy of an incomplete song that one of my classmates from music school and I were working on... The working title was, "Here I Come." From early 2007? We were just out of music school, and I was listening to a lot of early John Scofield at the time. I came up with the bassline, and my classmate (with his studio setup) added some chords, crunchy guitar and drums. We were building the song around the bassline. Sadly, the session was lost and the CD I found was a quick rip of what was to be the A section. We were still working on more chord changes and melody ideas...

Working Title: "Here I Come"

One of my personal favorites from "Vol. II."  I was leaning towards a more spiritual direction, while focusing more on production at the same time.

This is a snippet of a song that will soon be released as a two-song EP sharing the same title.  Inspiration came for this song as I was experimenting with different sounds, while ultimately deciding to use electronic drum sounds for a different feel.  The finished result that will soon be available has led me to consider if I should experiment further in the near future...

Originally written and recorded by British R&B group, The Hudsons, in 1982, I felt drawn to this underappreciated, magical song.  I tried my best, as the sole performer on this rendition, to emulate the magic of the original recording.  The song will be included in the "Empty Promises and Unfulfilled Dreams" EP that is forthcoming...

Originally recorded and released in 1982 by Brit/Funk group "The Hudsons," I decided to record and present my version here for demonstration only after enduring an uncessarily long, complicated, and drawn-out licensing fiasco.  I am playing all instruments and singing all vocals.  This is my first and last cover song that I will ever do.  Enjoy!
